Last month, we demonstrated high-rate alchemy: turning mercury into real, stable gold, beating CERN’s record by a factor of 10.
Last week, we enriched isotopes in the world’s most powerful plasma centrifuge, beating the Soviet record that stood for 40 years.
Now, we’re building a fusion reactor in San Francisco to achieve record power density.
Gradium just released Phonon, an open weights TTS model small enough for a CPU.
Micdrop now runs it inside your Node voice agent, with no API key, no GPU and no audio leaving the machine. First words in under 100 ms.
Five languages, 102 voices 👇

A new frontier for on-device speech.
We're open-sourcing Phonon, a suite of TTS models under 50m parameters, setting a new standard for naturalness and accuracy across languages, with the broadest inference support to date.
Phonon-31m is available under Apache 2.0.

Voxtral 3 now runs in Micdrop, the open source TypeScript library for voice agents 🎙️
Voxtral Realtime 3 transcribes, a Mistral model answers, Voxtral Speech 3 speaks. One API key for the whole call.
First audio in about 0.5 s in my tests.

Sale temps pour les devs PHP !
Mettez à jour aujourd’hui sinon votre site est ultra vulnérable.
Full details of a remotely exploitable vulnerability in the core engine of *all* PHP versions will be released tomorrow, October 21st. If your organization has internet facing PHP applications then you need to be ready to patch the minute the update is released or *strongly* consider taking the application offline until you can:

Micdrop now supports the new OpenAI Decisions API
for smart routing, fast visual feedbacks, or decision without LLM in a voice assistant.

It's one of the open source demos of Micdrop, my TypeScript toolkit for voice AI apps. The server is a speech to text and a classifier, no agent.

I built a voice game of 20 questions without LLM.
You ask out loud, speech to text transcribes the question, then @typesafeai Jev answers it in a few hundred ms.
Really fun to play!
(the video plays at 1x speed, turn the sound on)
The code is below ↓
How it works:
> OpenAI transcribes what you say, then one Jev request per turn reads it
> Jev makes 3 decisions at once: what you're doing (asking a question, asking for a hint, giving up, starting a new game), how likely the answer is yes, whether you named the secret
> the game turns that probability into yes, probably, I don't know, probably not, or no
> the secret goes to Jev in its state, while the browser only gets it when the game ends
> every reply is a fixed phrase from the game code, so no LLM generates any text
