I ask questions on representation BASED ON THAT. I am grateful I have other outlets that also align w/how I want to see the world. I know what power I have and don’t have and won’t have in this lifetime. Keeps me humbled and motivated to act. I don’t have the luxury of fantasy.
No ones asking you to be grateful, just not selfish. I only speak for me here- no org. When I see my peers laid off, students with no offers or others profiting off OUR backs, BLOCKING our scope while we’re the experts? YES. I’m grateful for someone who wants to fight for us.
You’re supposed to not invoke eugenics as if that’s what we believe on any front, knowing it’s direct harm to us. Also maybe not assume ill will from your colleagues and editorialize that an announcement meant bragging about harming others.
No. It’s weird that you refer to fellow colleagues, like me, as an institution and not real ppl who are tasked w/m/ advancing the profession. Even MORE hurtful that you would say an email is endorsement of mistreatment of anyone. A new firm to keep us EMPLOYED is not eugenics.

Now that #SickleCell awareness month is ending, it’s time to move on to #SickleCell action month and #SickleCell innovation month and #SickleCell equity month until our health care system is as invested every day of every month as they are in every other disease.
RIGHT! These ways of giving access have been studied to meet the needs of a workforce that is changing and, for better or worse, depends on employers for healthcare
I 💗 what I do and thankful a dear friend pioneered the way to get GCs in this place (👋🏾 Lauren)2 B in the convo about what real innovation looks like. Include everyone in ur talks. Spoiler alert: testing thru ur employer (that you DON’T do in front of everyone….TF?) is a PERK.
And then cascade testing isn’t free so that’s a problem? C’mon. Don’t do this. @Color (I’ll name it since you didn’t) does offer a great program for families and we aren’t the only one. You prefer perfect over progress? What a privilege.
The GCs you surveyed (w/ < 4 yrs in the space 😒) said they worried about ppl doing testing as a benefit and being surprised with a ➕result. Cute. Talk to the GCs who hear DAILY how thankful they are to have their employer give them this benefit bc otherwise THEY WOULDNT DO IT.
