Someone told me yesterday that even a rejection email would make them happy. Imagine job hunting and getting so little response that even a rejection feels better than silence. That conversation stayed with me.

Honestly, @ProspectFlowLab will start hiring Nigerians from next year. I'm still building!!!!!
ANYTIME I SEARCH FOR AGENCIES ON UPWORK, I FIND 100 INDIAN AGENCIES FILLED WITH THEIR PEOPLE, AND MAYBE 2 OR 3 NIGERIAN AGENCIES WITH NOBODY ATTACHED TO THEM. MIND YOU, WHEN AN AGENCY GROWS, IT CREATES OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE INDIVIDUAL FREELANCERS ATTACHED TO IT. THE AGENCY'S REPUTATION CAN HELP ITS MEMBERS WIN CLIENTS, TOO. WE CAN GROW IF WE COME TOGETHER. EVER WONDERED WHY FILIPINOS DO SO WELL IN CERTAIN FREELANCING NICHES? LOOK AT HOW THEY POSITION THEMSELVES, BUILD TEAMS, AND CREATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR ONE ANOTHER. I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM WITH PEOPLE SELLING COURSES, RUNNING ACADEMIES, OR TEACHING OTHERS HOW TO MAKE MONEY IN TECH. SELLING IS BUSINESS, AND THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT. BUT WE NEED TO DO MORE THAN TEACH PEOPLE HOW TO FREELANCE. WE NEED MORE AGENCIES. YES, ACADEMIES ARE GOOD. SCHOLARSHIPS ARE GOOD. TRAINING PEOPLE IS GOOD. BUT WHO IS BUILDING THE COMPANIES THAT WILL HIRE THESE PEOPLE, GIVE THEM THEIR FIRST EXPERIENCE, AND HELP THEM BUILD CREDIBLE PORTFOLIOS? I GOT MY FIRST EXPERIENCE THROUGH AN AGENCY. I KNOW FIRSTHAND HOW IMPORTANT THAT OPPORTUNITY CAN BE. WE KEEP CLAIMING THAT NIGERIANS ARE TECH-SAVVY, YET OUR PRESENCE IN THE GLOBAL FREELANCING ECOSYSTEM DOESN'T REFLECT OUR POTENTIAL. WE NEED MORE NIGERIAN-OWNED AGENCIES COMPETING INTERNATIONALLY, BUILDING TEAMS, HIRING NIGERIANS, AND CREATING A PIPELINE OF OPPORTUNITIES. NOT EVERYONE NEEDS TO COMPETE FOR THE SAME INDIVIDUAL CLIENT. SOME OF US SHOULD BE BUILDING THE PLATFORMS AND BUSINESSES THAT CREATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR HUNDREDS OF OTHERS. WE DON'T JUST NEED MORE PEOPLE LEARNING TECH. WE NEED MORE PEOPLE BUILDING BUSINESSES THAT EMPLOY THOSE WHO LEARN IT. AND I WILL KEEP SCREAMING THIS UNTIL WE TAKE IT SERIOUSLY.

It is not about launching new products. It is about creating solutions to problems. Trust me! Problems are everywhere.

Being a “bigman” in Nigeria is so rewarding and attractive for anyone to turn down except the individual in question is courageous enough…

Educational excellence does not necessarily mean leadership excellence. Many allow the prevailing corrupt system in Nigeria define them.

In November 2008, Lagos Governor Babatunde Fashola reportedly disguised himself, arrived on a motorbike and made an unscheduled visit to Massey Children’s Hospital on Lagos Island. He reportedly used makeup and a fake beard to avoid recognition, catching the hospital management and staff off guard. The staff were shaking when they discovered it was him. He is said to have done same at Ikorodu general hospital. He was said to have taken disciplinary action against the offending staff. Leadership is about seeing things as they are, not as they are presented to you.

Nigerian police are now telling people to remove their necklaces and glasses before they can search them. What should we call this now ??? Just take a look at them 💔💔💔

Not every pattern we carry started with us. Some were learned growing up. Others became ways to protect ourselves. But familiar doesn't always mean healthy. Let's explore this at The Cauldron. Oct 31 | 4:30 PM Register: rsvp.fuskar.app/the-cauldron

We want different results but sometimes repeat the same behaviours. Better relationships. Better decisions. Real growth. Maybe the first step is looking inward. The Cauldron | Oct 31 | 4:30 PM Register: rsvp.fuskar.app/the-cauldron

I was interviewing a young lady this morning who graduated with a Second Class Lower degree. She insisted that she was smart. I then asked her, “If you are smart, why did you graduate with a Second Class Lower?” She suddenly broke down in tears. I asked her why she was crying, and she explained that she lost her mother in her first year at university and her father in her second year. The emotional trauma affected her concentration, and she struggled to complete her education while dealing with the pain of losing both parents. I will give her a chance to prove herself. But this experience has left me with a troubling question: Does our education system make adequate provisions for young people who go through such devastating experiences? How many brilliant young people have we written off because their grades failed to reflect their true abilities, without ever asking what they went through?

Most of us are guilty of this, Someone tells you something and your first thought is “that happened to me too.” Most times, they don’t want your story, they want to feel understood. Listening to understand changes how the conversation flows. Have a great day!
