This is such an engrossing and exhilarating read, about arguably the most impressive rewilding effort in the world. It's also a warts and all account of the man who was the driving force behind it. What a guy, what a story, what a legacy.

So, one of the illegally released Eurasian lynx in the Cairngorms has died. Sad, but hardly surprising given the circumstances. A cautionary tale for any further amateurish "reintroductions" by mavericks who think they know best. Leave it to the experts. scotlandbigpicture.com/lynx-…

If only we could be more like Canmore, Alberta, when it comes to human-wildlife coexistence. What strikes me most is the pragmatism & lack of fuss when it comes to living alongside species like bear. Puts Scotland's histrionics & hyperbole into perspective vimeo.com/214597705?fbclid=I…

Nature recovery in the UK is too piecemeal. We need a national strategy of joined up thinking & joined up habitats for it to be effective & resilient in the long-term. Cores and corridors are key. We need to work at Nature's scale. It also needs to be impervious to whims of Gov.
