I am proud of the outstanding work that my auditing team and Criminal Investigations Division did to uncover the alleged misuse of taxpayer dollars and to ensure that Jackie Espinosa’s corruption did not go without recourse.

This weekend I visited Washington, Holmes, Okaloosa and Escambia Counties checking in on hurricane recovery efforts.
I even got a chance to roll up my sleeves and help.

FloridaCommerce has activated a $10 million Emergency Bridge Loan Program for businesses impacted by Hurricane Isaias.
🔹 0% interest
🔹 Loans up to $100,000 for eligible small businesses
🔹 Up to $150,000 for agriculture and aquaculture businesses
🔹 Sole proprietors may qualify
🔹 All seven counties in Senate District 2 are eligible
📅 Apply by November 25, 2026, or until funds are exhausted.
These are short-term loans, not grants, and must be repaid.

As promised, my Disaster Fraud Action Strike Teams are boots on the ground in the Panhandle and ready to put fraudsters behind bars.
During a state of emergency there are heightened penalties for defrauding Floridians.
My message to fraudsters is this: Don’t even think of trying to take advantage of innocent people trying to put their homes back together.
I challenged my team to get these Insurance Assistance Hubs up and running as soon as possible after Hurricane Isaias made landfall.
They delivered.
Just 48 hours later, @FLDFS now has TWO Hubs open. You can meet face to face with representatives from insurance companies and meet with my Consumer Services team to answer any questions you might have about the claims process after a storm.

Through these assessments we’ve found that the road at Grayton Beach State Park was washed out during the storm. These early surveys of the State Parks are an integral part of repairing the damage and getting our parks back open as soon as possible.
