#CleanAirElections #SwachhHawaChunav

The uploaded “resolution photo” appears blank, and its GPS coordinates (19.0562, 72.9215) reportedly point to the BMC M-East Ward Office, not the complaint site. BMC, was the issue actually resolved or just marked as resolved? Please investigate! @mybmc @mybmcWardME @AshwiniBhide

INDIA IN A STATE OF UNDECLARED EMERGENCY... Yesterday when I posted a message appealing for unity & peace in today's protest I had never imagined that the biggest democracy in the world would be under an undeclared EMERGENCY. I was happy there were so many leaders to lead the movement, but I now learn that they have all been arrested. I hope those arrested will be released soon. I will be compelled to consider an Anshan Fast or Padyatra March if they are not released by tomorrow. #JantarMantar #protest #CJP #CEC #sonamwangchuk

BMC to map 10 air pollution hotspots in each ward: BMC on Saturday said that it has drawn up an Air Pollution Control and Enforcement Action Plan-2026, with a focus on identifying pollution hotspots and stepping up enforcement against construction dust, road dust, debris dumping, garbage burning and vehicular emissions. Under the plan, at least 10 air pollution hotspots will be identified in every administrative ward and mapped through updated lists. Major construction and redevelopment sites, infrastructure works, locations where garbage is burnt or debris is dumped, and traffic congestion points will be included in the hotspot list. A designated officer will be responsible for monitoring each hotspot. The civic body has also directed its teams to inspect at least two construction sites daily. The BMC said its existing 28-point guidelines for construction and demolition sites will be strictly enforced, with violators facing show-cause notices, stop-work notices and, if required, sealing action.

Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde is scheduled to address a press conference at BMC headquarters this afternoon, amid opposition to the civic administration’s decision to launch a three-month special drive from October 1 against unauthorised constructions in slum areas. Under the proposed drive, 39,111 structures measuring 14ft or more in height have been identified for action. Tawde’s press conference comes days after BJP leader of the House Ganesh Khankar submitted a written objection to the BMC’s decision. The proposed action has also faced opposition from other political parties.
Mumbai Congress president and MP Varsha Gaikwad will lead a delegation of MPs, MLAs and corporators to meet BMC commissioner Ashwini Bhide on Monday, September 28, over the civic body’s decision to demolish around 39,000 slum structures measuring 14 feet or more in height. Congress has joined the opposition to the BMC move announced last week. The meeting is scheduled for 1pm, following which Gaikwad will address the media.

@Dev_Fadnavis @mybmc @GaneshKhankar

Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray has urged Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to protect slum dwellings that have been vertically extended to create 1+1 homes, ahead of the @mybmc proposed three-month drive against unauthorised constructions measuring 14ft or more. Thackeray said the civic administration’s decision to take action against structures based on their height would affect families living in Mumbai’s slums. He also referred to the BMC’s recently operationalised Occupancy Certificate (OC) Amnesty Scheme, arguing that ordinary citizens should receive similar protection.
Leader of the @mybmc House and BJP corporator Ganesh Khankar has urged municipal commissioner to immediately suspend instructions to issue notices to slum structures above 14 feet, saying the move has created fear among slum residents across Mumbai. Khankar said around 40% of Mumbai’s population lives in slum areas and that many residents had been living in the city for several years. He said the state government was already undertaking slum rehabilitation through the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA), cluster development and other schemes, with the objective of making Mumbai slum-free. Khankar’s intervention is significant as BJP is the single-largest party in the 227-member BMC with 89 corporators. BJP, along with its Mahayuti ally Shiv Sena, is currently in control of the civic body.

@mybmcInfra @AshwiniBhide @mybmc @Dev_Fadnavis @India_NHRC BMC’s 14-ft drive is based on a 137-year-old colonial law from 1888. Earlier Maharashtra govt was talking about G+1 regularisation. Now Triple Engine Sarkar wants to demolish homes instead. @AUThackeray @mieknathshinde
BMC will launch a three-month special drive from October 1, 2026 to crack down on unauthorised/ illegal constructions in slum areas, with structures measuring 14ft or more in height identified for action. The civic body has identified 39,111 such structures across the city and suburbs. The drive, to continue till December 31, is aimed at removing unauthorised additions and constructions in slum areas. The BMC has appealed to residents to voluntarily remove such structures before civic teams take action. Of the 39,111 structures identified as being 14ft or taller, 3,348 are in Mumbai city, 4,536 in the western suburbs and 31,227 in the eastern suburbs, according to data released by the civic administration on Saturday.

It appears BMC Commissioners are not in habit of giving audience for civic related issues even if is sought in advance. We have been seeking appointment with BMC Commissioner and mailed letters seeking appointment on 15th May and 20th July both the emails are forwarded to the officials against whom we have a grievance of not taking action. Maybe Hon'ble Chief Minister @Dev_Fadnavis and Dy Chief Minister incharge of Urban Development @mieknathshinde may have given such instructions.
