1/ A rare setup is taking place across portions of the Desert SW tomorrow. A powerful trough moves into the region with subtropical jet influences, leading to a rare overlap of CAPE/Shear/instability/lift over an atypical region. My main concern is lift, but what is known?

A Mw6.3 earthquake has occurred near vanuatu. This was a normal faulting outer rise quake, similar to what occurred in 1933 sanriku quake, which produced a massive tsunami (however was much larger magnitude). These can produce large tsunamis with little shaking due to distance.
I like being at an american university because I can use mb/100=Pa instead of having to use hPa/100=Pa
