The limited water in the landscape is becoming a valuable oasis for all sorts of wildlife after the #bushfires
#rockwallaby, #python, tree #snake (look carefully) and a stack of #microbats This last waterhole is very popular.

I think half a billion is a fair guess for the number of vertebrates that have died in Australian wildfires so far - birds may be able to fly, but territorial individuals will die. Animals that emerge from burrows will find little food. bbc.com/news/50986293 – at Brisbane, Queensland

The true extent of the damage to Australia’s unique biodiversity is not yet known. Some estimates are that 500 million+ native animals may have perished. We're working to support various organisations to help save endangered wildlife affected by these fires. 📸 D Nelson / AWC

This is Mt Nardi, Nightcap NP. Numerous short-range endemics including my #dungbeetles are only found here in this Gondwanan rainforest. Much of their habitat was lost in the Dec fires but some survived thanks to @NSWRFS and the Community Defenders. Photo: Felix Schafer-Gardiner

We still don't know what impact the most recent fire in core #westerngroundparrot habitat has had on the last wild population but with a pre-fire population of less than 150 the situation is critical. The surviving birds need to be found and protected. #AustraliaBurning

Let’s break it down. 1. Turnbull gov must go, because Libs increase inequality, make climate change worse & harm refugees. 2. ALP might be gov soon, but they keep siding w Libs on tax cuts, keeping coal & harming refugees. 3. Best way to stop LNP & their policies? More #Greens

#Biodiversity was the loser in #budget18, and 1/3 #threatenedspecies jobs have been axed. It's now up to NGOs to save our #wildlife; governments won't. This is why BioR exists. Our funding comes directly from people who care. You can help at bior.org.au/donate #actforbirds

If only we had such fiscal foresight and environmental leadership in Australia. Instead we just get a whole swag of threatened species jobs axed 🙄😑😑 #straya #auspol #actforbirds xitter.gq/nzgreens/status/995065… – at Crafers - Bridgewater, South Australia
BREAKING: Native birds are the winners in #Budget2018! With 82% of our precious birds threatened or at risk of extinction, an extra $81.28 million over four years will protect them from rats, stoats & possums 💚#nzpol blog.greens.org.nz/2018/05/1…

Our volunteer superstar Grace showing the young kids how to safely extract a Diamond Firetail from a mist net. Grace studied these beautiful native finches for her PhD and was the perfect person to answer the many questions the "Fledgelings" had about our feathered friends 🐦✨ – at Monarto, South Australia

The elusive, #endangered Noisy Scrub-bird (#Atrichornis clamosus). Once believed extinct they were rediscovered in 1961 in south-west WA. Their ear-splitting call makes them an easy birds to find, yet their super-secretive habits mean they are one of the hardest to actually see! – at Albany, Western Australia

FYI: The temperature in most office buildings is set to accommodate male metabolic rates, which is why women often feel chilly. Seat belts are designed to protect male bodies, which means women are 47 percent more likely to sustain injuries in a crash. strategy-business.com/articl…
