Happy to share my new review article on "Affective Immunology", which comments on what can be considered an emerging sub-field, informed by the amazing legacy of Jan Kiecolt-Glaser in #PNI, and future directions for the field. It was a lot of fun to write! authors.elsevier.com/c/1ig~G…

I was starting my first project at Pitt when COVID happened. We pivoted to remote collection, including dried blood spots for inflammation; here we show this method is feasible, reliable, and valid in older adults. Could be especially useful for hard-to-reach populations in PNI!

Placebo effects are among the most important effects in medicine. They provide a window into the self-healing potential of the mind and brain, and make it challenging to isolate the effects of active treatments like drugs and devices. Happy to see #PNIRS2024 kicking off with some excellent aging-related programming, related to dietary factors and how they relate to cognitive aging and Alzheimer's disease risk. And with a lovely combination of animal-model and human research! #healthyaging #PsychoNeuroImmology

New paper on links between child empthy and health led by @PennStateBBH Hannah Schreier, with BBH graduate students Aishwarya Ganguli and @cate_givens, and @pennstateHDFS Damon Jones. It was fun to help with this fascinating and important work!

Am important message on de-stigmatising illnesses that have a strong mental or behavioral component (like CFS), mind/body connection, and how psychological therapy can often help even when there is a biological/physical component (which there always is)
This is a piece I wrote in @guardian a few years ago on #long #covid where i discuss why we should never say that symptoms are “all in the mind”.

Cool new paper from the fabulous @ddwitzz on links between positive and negative daily events and subjective cognitive complaints (e.g., difficulty concentrating). She is so good at article titles!
🚨New Pub Alert!🚨 Now published in Aging and Mental Health, my latest publication explores how daily positive or negative noteworthy events were associated with self-reported cognitive difficulties, and how close social partners modified associations. /🧵 tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.…
