A cruel irony is that those who would make great traders are often too risk averse to enter financial markets. Those that do enter are often too comfortable with risk and have poor money management skills and or judgment.

I blew up 8 forex trading accounts, and was down 50k and four years before I started becoming profitable in forex. Without perseverance, self development isn't possible.
Risk taking and self control are juxtapositions. You'll usually have one but not the other. Self development and experience is the only path.
Trading is a counterintuitive event. It's shockingly true that doing the polar opposite of what makes sense to a new market participant is a viable trading strategy. Vultures delight.
Knowing yourself, and how you react in certain situations should be your biggest trading advantage. The journey of self discovery via trading is laced with anxiety and regret.
Systems are always superior To descipline. I became profitable the day I became accountable for my wins/losses. If someone's looking over your shoulder, then you're far more likely to be desciplined.
Money management and risk mitigation is the biggest hurdle for any new trader. Will power can fade and one bad session can wreck days/weeks/months of gains.
