Husband & Father to 2 sons and 2 daughters, torn between my Essex upbringing and being a good leftie.

After 38 years I have been expelled from Labour for showing support for my former MP, himself expelled by Kinnock on the day he was voted hardest working MP by his peers. I campaigned for Foot, Kinnock, Blair & Corbyn. I knocked on 2000 doors in 19. A badge of honour.

Had it not been for Boris Johnson and Victoria Nuland -- who personally forced Zelensky to reject the deal Ukraine and Russia were about to sign in Istanbul in 2022 -- this horrific war that has killed more than a million and consumed much of Ukraine would have been long over.
It is sickening that the USA is now lifting sanctions on Russian fuel, and transparently ridiculous to blame Ukraine for the spike in prices that obviously began with the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Putin is murdering innocent Ukrainian civilians every day. The Ukrainians are fighting for their lives. And yet the White House is apparently determined to force American drivers to bankroll Putin’s slaughter. It won’t work and I doubt it will make much difference to the price of fuel. If we want Russian oil and gas back on the world market then let’s end this war - with a free, sovereign and independent Ukraine.

You never see Christians hijacking a plane and yelling "Praise Jesus" as they try to kill everyone on board.

37% of new trucks sold in China are now electric. They’re not little vans - they’re 49 tons. Unaffected by diesel prices. Simply not held back by the fossil fuel lobby.
This is an extraordinary development. Only a few years ago, the car makers were saying it would not be impossible in the near future to make electric trucks. We must never underestimate the extent to which vested interest is putting the brakes on the Climate revolution

China's diesel consumption fell ~12% in H1 2026. Gasoline demand dropped ~8%. EV truck sales grow faster than EV auto sales in China! US diesel truck pays ~$101 to go 200 kilometers, while an EV truck in China pays $21! Energy security drives EV. bloomberg.com/news/features/…

Thst ship sailed when you spent years smearing Corbyn and the left as antisemites. Too late now.
I disagree with @ShabanaMahmood on plenty, and think many of her policies are both misguided and counterproductive. As Shadow Attorney General, it’s part of my job to challenge the Government - including a Home Secretary who’s also a former Lord Chancellor. But calling her an “Islamist” is ridiculous. Politics is better when we attack bad arguments, not smear people with labels and slogans.

I challenged Cabinet minister Jonny Reynolds about the banning of Palestine Action. He said he knew nothing about it. He voted for it. It's his government's policy.

For people who say the 1970s were awful when unions were more active fighting for pay rises: Average real terms wage growth across decades: 1970s 33% 2010s 0% I wonder why so many working people are skint nowadays? 🤔

This is a huge milestone, laying bare what survivors and the bereaved have been saying for 9 years: Grenfell was no tragedy, it was corporate manslaughter. It should never have taken so long to get to this point — but we will never, ever give up in our fight for justice.

Whenever there's a progressive policy announcement, it's compulsory to have a regressive policy announcement to fund it Notice when they announce more money for bombs or Ukraine, etc., there's no such requirement
Andy Burnham is funding care for the old by making the old poorer, in a country where 2.8 million pensioners live below the minimum income standard and 157 billionaires live above every standard. Jeremy Corbyn is right.

When will people realise that speeches and good intentions are not enough? @OliDugmore is correct here in that @andyburnham and Labour have to show courage in raising taxes to pay for real change. That is why Your Party continues to advocate for a wealth tax @thisisyourparty
I haven’t voted Labour since 2019* I heard a speech today that could bring me back to the party. Whether that happens depends if Burnham actually does it and spends the necessary 💰💰💰

#C4News I’m on the Left. I cannot STAND Lisa Nandy. A dead-eyed careerist who will say literally anything to defend her job and stay close to power. There’s absolutely nothing about her that gives anyone any hope. She sucks all the light and optimism from the world. Ugh!

How brave and principled of her! True leadership is washing your hair at the time when democratic protest rights were being banned.
Emily Thornberry has said she was absent for the vote to proscribe Palestine Action as she “happened to have other things to do” and didn’t see evidence that convinced her to support a ban. The Labour MP and chair of the foreign affairs select committee spoke to Novara Media’s @michaeljswalker at the Labour party conference on Monday.

😂 Oh dear. I think you’ve made a rather large assumption. I’m not a trans woman. I’m a cis woman and the mother of a trans daughter. But thank you for accidentally demonstrating something rather beautifully: apparently even supporting trans women is now enough to have your womanhood questioned. The irony is magnificent. 🤣
Replying to @Missmbl2812
So true. And stop calling yourself a woman. Live your life happily as a transwoman.
