New follower? I’m Greg Madison. I’ve been pioneering tangible interfaces in XR for decades: making digital illusions part of the physical world, keeping us grounded in it.
A thread on the ideas behind my work. 🧵
Here’s an early exploration from 2009.
fr.slideshare.net/slideshow/…
That’s the thread from The 7th Sense to Sphenomenon: making ideas tangible so we can question, test, and share them. Objects become shared anchors for interacting with digital content, our surroundings, and each other. I explore future interactions with the tools we have today.
Thinking outside the box, within a box - 2013
If you’ve just discovered my work through the Sphenomenon trailer, there’s a lot more to explore on my YouTube channel: years of concepts, prototypes, and experiments following that same thread: youtube.com/@gregmadison
Seeing my friends and longtime XR folks genuinely smile and have fun with something I created brings me back to my years performing as a magician. There’s something incredibly rewarding about witnessing that joy firsthand. Thank you Storm, you made my day.
I just got back from @GregMadison's Sphenomenon demo & I can't think of a time I got that mind blown in the last 5 years. So, SO cool!! I am alive with inspiration. It was just magic, really. Joyous fun. Can't say enough good things. A must try if you can. Thank you Greg! 🤩💫
XR veterans are hard to surprise. Videos can’t quite capture what Sphenomenon feels like. These reactions can. Without excited developers, there’s no thriving spatial computing ecosystem.
@finkd @sama @satyanadella @sundarpichai @elonmusk @boztank @DavidSHolz want to try what got them this excited? I’d love to give you a personal demo.
I often feel nostalgic for the future. Tech has rarely surprised me since Ray Kurzweil laid out the roadmap back in 2005.

While in San Francisco, I finally got to try @GregMadison's mysterious and elusive demo on Apple Vision Pro.
I've tried a *lot* of XR demos and it was frankly one of the coolest and freshest things I've seen in a while.

I just got to experience @GregMadison's mysterious demo, and it's the freshest VR demo I've ever had.
It's brilliant, and has quadrupled my appreciation for modern headsets.
Everyone should try it asap!

Yesterday I saw a remarkable interactive mixed reality demo by @GregMadison that was so inspiring. I can’t really say too much about it but it was magical and gave me a tremendous amount of hope for the future of interactive experience design.

Just tried @GregMadison's XR experience. Lots of people said here on X it is a cool experience. I don't agree. It is a F**KING COOL experience. We definitely need more Gregs inventing original experiences in our space for XR to succeed

Yes the @GregMadison Apple Vision Pro demo is absolutely amazing. It has awe, surprise, playfulness, and a profound sense of presence: all the things that make XR special.
And best of all, it feels like something someone should have made years ago. Brilliant in its simplicity!
Apple Vision Pro team, I’m begging you: please give us a 1:1 screen recording option.
Right now, recordings are essentially 16:9 and crop out the lower part of the experience, making it surprisingly hard to show spatial UI, hand interactions, and full context.
More importantly, it hides the magic of seeing your real arms and hands naturally occlude virtual content so seamlessly that you stop noticing it.
Please give creators and developers the framing they need to show what Vision Pro can do better than any other headset.

AirPods Max could be a personal acoustic camera.
It feels like a missed opportunity that @Apple doesn’t let us record and replay the sound reconstructed by Transparency mode. Imagine capturing not just how a place sounds, but what it feels like to actually be there.
Hey Meta Quest devs and content creators!
You know how much friction goes into getting the perfect footage for trailers, demos, and content.
The recorder is there. The pro controls live on desktop.
I built a pocket control panel for the Meta Quest recorder. – at San Francisco, CA

Living in real time inside alternate realities, with a headset on your eyes, has never felt this close.
But the real magic, the kind that actually fools the brain, will only happen in passthrough. Not see through. I will die on this hill.
Xmax X1, the first real-time interactive video model, is here.
Powered by autoregressive streaming generation, X1 achieves millisecond ultra-low latency and infinite-length generation, enabling truly natural spatial interaction.
Camera is redefined. It’s no longer just a lens, but a magic wand that breaks the barrier between dimensions. Summon virtual beings into your reality and interact with them in real-time.
Live implementation video is below, truely amazing work! Definitely one to watch.
