My @TrashTastePod Vinyl just arrived and it's already on the turntable! That special message is such a fantastic touch. You guys nailed it! 😄
I had a bit more time this year to play games 😁 so this is a good overview of my year.

This is a great video by @stolinski on #html Invokers, definitely worth the watch.
Do you hate writing JavaScript for simple events?
Invokers are one of the coolest upcoming HTML APIs and they allow you to do things like open a modal without writing a line of JS.

There's been a lot of discussion about masonry in CSS recently and whether it lives in the grid spec. This post explains a different approach, that still enables the track sizing and other features from grid. developer.chrome.com/blog/ma…

for me, it's:
1. a masonry layout isn't a grid. there's no shared row lines, only columns. so it has to ignore all sorts of syntax to accommodate this, syntax we'll have to memorize isnt applicable
2. if masonry is it's own thing, it can pace and grow at it's own rate. subgrid has already added tons of bugs and complexity to grid layouts, adding masonry in there too makes the combinatorial explosion even greater
tldr;
Chrome is pro masonry. we're adocating things are simpler for both spec writers, site authors and implementors to make a new layout strategy for masonry instead of appending it to grid. this would mean nothing to unlearn or exceptions to memorize. and yeah, performance is better, that's nice too.
it's becoming pretty common that initial proposals for features get push back and refined, the good news is, so far, it's always been a better spec for it.

Do you know Speculation Rules?
After reading the Google post from @tunetheweb, we dove straight in, and implemented the feature in #hyva.
Instant page loads, implemented in less than 5 minutes! 🚀
