Churchill could have shortened WW2 by years if he had just “done a deal” with Hitler. George Washington could have done a deal to end the American Revolution. Zelenskyy is in good company.

The taxpayers of Washington State have an opportunity to save themselves and their wonderful state…the initiative process. The democrat state legislature keeps voting in higher taxes and even taxes (income tax) prohibited by the state constitution. Sadly they have a very democrat/left wing “Supreme Court” that cheerfully ignores those naughty bits of the constitution that protect civil liberties and citizens from such taxation. Yes. Many are leaving Washington. But some are staying to fight. They deserve everyone’s support…see Project 42
Where is all the taxpayer money going in Washington state? @stevemgordon67 tells @GroverNorquist what the Democrat political machine is spending it on and why residents aren’t seeing better results.

The new left wants to make sure no one works for themselves, everyone has to have a boss. And union bosses have first crack at you. Americans should be able to be their own bosses.

"Steel tariffs protect producers at the expense of the businesses that depend on them. As of July 1, the European Union has capped duty-free steel imports at about 18.3 million tonnes (20.2 US tons) a year, 47% below 2024 quota levels. Regulation (EU) 2026/1384 also doubles the duty on imports that exceed those limits, from 25% to 50%. Brussels justifies these measures by pointing to global overcapacity and the need for strategic autonomy." - @claudiashandi

Only a “problem” for hypocrites.
No, he can't go first. It's a collectivist action problem.

The whole world is watching Mr. kirby You can Write the check
Good news for the United Airlines CEO who volunteered to pay a wealth tax. Under existing law he's allowed to lead by example and can cut a check for 5% of his net wealth to the IRS's "tax me more" fund. Directions below. atr.org/united-airlines-ceo-…

The challenge for Europe is that too many of the nations are committing suicide. Deliberately taxing, regulating and spending (other people's money) as costs increase, work decreases and there is limited interest or money left available for the few (very few) legitimate functions of a government: defense and punishing crime (real crime, not texts and tweets) Europe lacks federalism. (And guns, but that is for another day) In the United States, yes California, New York and Rhode island are behaving like Europe on a bad day. But they have to compete with grown up states that have eliminated their state income taxes, limited the power of unions to abuse workers, given parents the right to control their kids educaton. We have no Berlin Wall and people leave "socialist" states and move to more limited government states. Heck, East Germany picked up on this after a while. California will also. Maybe not Massachusetts.

You’re saying this is bigger than The Reign of Terror, Waterloo, Verdun, Battle of France? The defeatist view is myopic sensationalism. The time is grave but Europe has been through A LOT worst.

Europe may not make it
The biggest, and stupidest, myth in European politics, particularly popular in France, is that Europe suffers the consequences of "austerity" and "neoliberalism". In the biggest 5 countries in Europe, more than half of the population makes its income from the state, less than half from the private sector. This is what makes the problem of reducing the welfare state so impossible: more than half of the voters are net recipients. No surprise that Italy's budget has not been balanced in 100 years, France's in 50 years (ooh la la, l'austérité!!): -France: 30 million from the state versus 21m private sector workers. State spending is 57% of GDP, taxes more than half the economy. The budget hasn't been balanced in the lifetime of most French (since 1974). - Germany: 35 million adults from the state, versus 34 million from the private sector. 10% of the population is registered as severely disabled. Public spending is over half of GDP. Germany has had a continuous budget deficit since 2019. -Italy: 23 million from the state, versus 20.5 million private-sector workers. Public spending is 51% of GDP. Italy has had a budget deficit every year since 1925, for 100 years. - Spain more people get their income from the state since 2024: 18.21 million from the public sector versus 17.9 million people working in the private sector. Since 2025, Spain also had more government employees than self-employed workers (autónomos) for the first time in history. State spending is at 45%, budget has not been balanced since 2007. - UK: 54% of households now receive more in state benefits than they pay in taxes. State spending is 44.5% of GDP, taxes (40%) are at their highest since 1950, the budget hasn't been balanced since 2001, and 1 in 5 new cars is paid by the government through a bizarre state disability scheme (Motability).
