Word of the day is ‘recrudescence’ (17th century): the return of something terrible after a time of reprieve.

I've never worked in games journalism, but I used to direct the (utterly heroic) Unreal Engine Documentation team so I have some understanding of publishing. The amount of planning, editing, management that goes on just for the stuff you can fit in the schedule would stun you.
I love when people who have never worked in a newsroom, never planned an editorial calendar, never had to write a review alongside other long form pieces and interviews and hands-ons, and have never had to edit copy to a specific standard act like they know a god damn thing about it!

You've got 90 things you want me to write about? Cool, I've got time for 8 of those. No writer covering what they love wants to not write about that thing. What logic is that? There is never ever a conspiracy, only hard cuts, hard decisions, and deadlines. Always deadlines.

gonna go against the grain here: if you’re a solo dev who’s released something small but cool on itch, we’ll sign you on a paper pitch. no milestones, as long as your burn rate is something like $2-3k a month, just cook for as long as you need and we’ll support you.

BUT if any pub looking to move into the tiny indie space is willing to sign you, chanches are that you'll do great without them anyways lol

In a daylight search for a decent night sky shoot location, I found my exact perfect location: "here".

No, don't do this. This is the same as artists/animators working for exposure. Ask them what they think of that. By all means contribute to an open source project or a charity. But don't ever offer to work for free.

5. Offer to write for free This is a great way to get your foot in the door and become an experienced technical writer. 6/n

Sad to say my time at Epic came to a sudden end today. I am now looking for my next role in the realms of Tech Writing/Docs Management. Games would be ideal, but my resume is broad with other industries too. Looking for the right challenge. linkedin.com/posts/grahamcam…

Knowledge management in games is: - info never gets lost or is allowed to rot - good habits embedded in studio culture - save time and costs by utilizing your workforce correctly Here are my highlights of working with Epic and Rockstar. Get in touch if you want to be next.
