No😄 The DSM criteria even specifically includes self-reporting of symptoms!
"PTSD without trauma" is a wrong comparison. Trauma is one cause, plurality is one symptom (and isn't always part of DID). A better comparison would be "anxiety without an anxiety disorder". Endogenic systems aren't saying they have DID without trauma, just that they're plural

Hi - plurality is something that originated in non-medical spaces. It simply means multiple in one body, whatever the origin. This is what it's recognised as in medical spaces, because it's something that came from outside medical spaces. It's never required trauma :)
That's because it's the wrong term!
The word is 'endogenic', and it isn't the idea that a CDD can form without trauma. It's the idea that a system - not the same thing as a CDD - can exist without being caused by trauma. It's about multiplicity, not dissociative disorders! :)

Other DDs don't require the same trauma that CDDs do!
For a main example, Depersonalisation/Derealisation Disorder can form by doing something like what's mentioned in the quote - disconnecting (dissociating) yourself from your thoughts etc. :)

These are what we found with a quick search!
The Handbook of Dissociation seemed to bring up a few different studies that included alter count, so you might be able to get more info from the references there ( drive.google.com/file/d/1V6B… )

Sorry this is long, it's a complicated discussion! DID experiences (and trauma in general) can be VERY different from others, even down to explaining how it works. We recommend this, drive.google.com/file/d/1K0t… explains it better without overcomplicating it!
Gonna be completely honest, no idea what this reblog is about, Twitter's bugged out. Absolutely no memory of posting this at all. That's DID for you 🤷♂️

Hi -
Part of endogenic plurality is to separate pathalogical and non-pathalogical multiplicity, e.g. systems with vs without a CDD, fitting how mental disorders are defined (symptoms on a continuum with normality)
They're not faking a CDD when they don't say they have a CDD :)

If we may (not wanting an argument or anything 😄)
Just about everyone in that original post is wrong, and we've.. apparently already been blocked by the op (the one responding to the anon) at some point, lol
