𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡: In 2022, His Majesty, Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV led the historic Rwenzori Royal Expedition to Margherita Peak, raising awareness about climate change and the rapidly melting glaciers of the Rwenzori Mountains. His participation drew greater attention to the urgent need to conserve this fragile mountain ecosystem.
The tourism sector will always remember a King who understood that our mountains, traditions, heritage and communities are not only part of who we are, but treasures worthy of protection, celebration and sharing with the world.

Minister of State for Tourism, Hon.Susan Nsambu Nakawuki was this weekend hosted by @ugwildlife to a familiarization tour of Murchison Falls NP and Ajai Wildlife Reserve. During her visit,the Minister engaged in the unique experiences these protected areas offer including a hike to the top of the magnificent, thundering Uhuru and Murchison Falls, a boat cruise where the team got to appreciate the abundant wildlife along the Nile river banks, a game drive and also took time to inspect the different projects and initiatives by UWA like the construction of modern UWA accommodation, initiatives that improve community livelihoods, electic fencing that has largely controlled the human wildlife conflicts within the area.
Hon.Nakawuki used the opportunity to remind Ugandans and visitors from all over the world that Uganda 🇺🇬 is safe with zero ebola cases. The country is open, free and with several attractions to visit and enjoy a memorable lifetime experience. @ExploreUganda

Over the last few days, we have been strengthening Uganda’s presence in the German market through a series of strategic tourism engagements.
We kicked off the week with a tourism roadshow in Düsseldorf, bringing together German tour operators and travel agents to showcase Uganda’s diverse tourism experiences, strengthen partnerships, and create new opportunities to grow visitor arrivals from one of our key European source markets.
The engagements continue in Munich with Uganda’s first ever Cultural and Tourism Festival in Germany, celebrating our rich heritage while promoting tourism, trade, investment, and deeper people-to-people connections.
These initiatives reinforce our commitment to positioning Uganda as the Pearl of Africa and expanding our footprint in the European market.

Dr. Bashir Ajer- representing the Minister of @MTWAUganda as Chief Guest at the 1st National #Biodiversity and #conservation #Research , emphasized the need to keep the fire of knowledge burning by ensuring that research findings are widely shared through publications and integrated into the structures of the Ministry and UWA.
He noted that evidence without adaptation changes nothing and called for stronger links between research, policy, and practice. He commended researchers and academicians for generating critical knowledge that informs conservation and sustainable development.
He reaffirmed the Government's commitment to supporting research, innovation, ecosystem restoration, and evidence-based conservation, stressing that research must ultimately translate into action and impact.

Now at the 1st National Biodiversity symposium 2026 under the theme: Science, innovation and collaborative Responses.
Welcoming participants, ED-UWA, Dr. James Musinguzi emphasized the importance of institutionalizing the symposium as an annual platform for knowledge sharing, innovation, and collaboration.
He noted that effective conservation can only be achieved through data-driven and evidence-based decision-making, stressing that biodiversity is fundamental to sustainable development, ecosystem health, livelihoods, and national prosperity.
He also highlighted plans to establish a Wildlife Research Journal to promote research, knowledge dissemination, and informed conservation action.
