Keeping soil covered can make a major difference. In Mediterranean olive groves, researchers found that cover crops reduced runoff, erosion, and the loss of soil organic carbon compared to tillage. The practice helps strengthen soil structure and keeps soil particles from being carried away during rainfall. For rainfed farms on sloping land, this can support fertility, reduce carbon loss, and make agriculture more resilient. Action Now: savesoil.org Citation: Gómez-Muñoz, B., et al. (2024). Influence of cover crops and tillage on organic carbon loss in Mediterranean olive orchards. Soil and Tillage Research, 235, 105905. doi.org/10.1016/j.still.2023…

It's heartwarming to witness that there can also be much compassion, gentleness and a sense of unity in the wild, especially among the species closest to us humans. Let's not lose those wonderful qualities within ourselves. #SaveSoil #ConsciousPlanet #Unity
Study finds orangutan mothers help their babies socialize with others of similar age A 15 year study found that wild orangutan mothers with similarly aged offspring tend to spend time in the same areas, giving their young more opportunities to interact

Earthworms are the bees of the Soil! While bees hover above the ground pollinating as much as they can, earthworms do their work mainly beneath it. Silently and effectively 🪱 #SaveSoil #ConsciousPlanet

Whenever you see or fear a bee, let it fly freely! It has no intention to harm you but provide with life essential service. Let's protect our pollinators and ensure their population rises and stays healthy! #SaveSoil #ConsciousPlanet #biodiversity
🐝 Our very existence depends on bees & other pollinators. They support biodiversity & play a vital role in our food systems. Yet bees face growing threats from human activities. See how @UNESCO is working to protect them & support local beekeepers.

There's a good reason why we refer to Earth as Mother Earth. Our planet nourishes us every single day, sustains our lives, embraces us just as a Mother would. If we can show gratitude to our Mother, why not also to the Nature all around us? #SaveSoil #ConsciousPlanet
I bow to the splendor, beauty and power of the trees. Air purifier, CO2-binder, oxygen producer, soil improver, water purifier, groundwater regulator, shade provider, wind breaker, temperature minimizer, home for many animals and all this for free for our lives. Respect💚🌲🌳🍀💚

Freshwater fish populations have collapsed by a staggering 81%. This dramatic decline is emerging as one of the most severe, yet often overlooked, wildlife crises on Earth, with serious consequences for both river ecosystems and global food security. According to a major 2024 global assessment, migratory freshwater fish populations plummeted by an average of 81% between 1970 and 2020. This collapse is happening far faster than declines in terrestrial or marine wildlife. The main culprits are human-made barriers such as dams and weirs that block ancient migration routes, combined with pollution, habitat destruction, and climate change. These fish play a critical role in maintaining the health of rivers and wetlands. Their disappearance disrupts entire ecosystems, affecting everything from nutrient cycling to the survival of other species. For millions of people in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, migratory fish are also a vital source of nutrition and livelihood. Their decline directly threatens food security and local economies. The good news? Recovery is still possible. Successful conservation efforts (including the removal of obsolete dams, the creation of effective fish passages, and the protection of free-flowing rivers) have already shown promising results in restoring fish populations and river health. The challenge now is to act quickly and at scale before these vital freshwater systems cross a point of no return. [World Wildlife Fund. (2026). Living Planet Report 2025: A System in Peril. The call for action is much needed, especially now! It's great to witness climate-related summits moving toward real results with less talking and more acting. Let's come together to speed up the restoration of our only home, the Earth! #SaveSoil #ConsciousPlanet #COP17 #Armenia
🇦🇲🌍 Yerevan Declaration – Taking Action for Nature adopted in Yerevan On 16 October, at the conclusion of the plenary session of the Leaders for Nature Summit, the Yerevan Declaration – Taking Action for Nature was adopted. Adopted ahead of COP17, the Declaration reaffirms commitment to the implementation of the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, including the mission to halt and reverse biodiversity loss by 2030 and achieve the vision of living in harmony with nature by 2050. Its central message is clear: move from political commitments to measurable action and tangible results. The Declaration emphasizes the mobilization of finance, ecosystem conservation and restoration, science and innovation, international cooperation, and the meaningful participation of different sectors of society. It also calls for a clear and results-oriented pathway at COP17 to accelerate implementation of the Framework and advance progress toward its 23 targets. The message from Yerevan is clear: it is time for action. #COP17Armenia #BiodiversityAction #ForAction #TakingActionForNature

🪰 Black soldier flies are a practical bioeconomy solution for food and agriculture. Their larvae convert food waste into high-protein livestock feed, while producing a valuable organic fertilizer. A small but powerful ally in the fight against waste!

Very inspiring, motivational, and practical stories for all who produce and/or eat food! Heartfelt thanks to @cpsavesoil for always highlighting the important work of natural farmers 🙏 #SaveSoil #ConsciousPlanet #NaturalFarming #Organic #TreebasedAgriculture
Deepa had never been to Chennai before. She came for Save Soil's Agri-Startup event, found a seat in the fifth row of a hall of 5,000 people, and left that day knowing what she wanted to do with her life. ✨ → She turned recipes handed down through four generations of her family into Oormanam Foods, which now makes more than 100 traditional products → She has since trained more than 3,000 people in millets and food enterprise → Within a year, she was back with Save Soil as a trainer, helping natural farmers earn more from what they grow The recipes in your family's kitchen may be worth more than you think. Which one would you never let disappear? 👇 🌾 My Regenerative Revolution Deepa's story is only a glimpse. How great it would be to hear that being a natural farmer is really cool! They make a seed grow into a plant that provides us with food, life-saving materials & more. The best thing about them is their dedication to working in harmony with Nature instead of harming it! #SaveSoil
Dhanalakshmi always believed in natural farming, but twenty acres in Coimbatore felt like far too much to change at once. For years, she had the will but not the plan. 🌾 → A single Save Soil training changed that, and she worked through the rest of the program one session at a time → Her farm now processes almost everything it grows, turning turmeric into pickle and coconuts into oil → The Save Soil coordinators she met along the way are still a phone call away whenever a doubt comes up Big change is really a lot of small decisions, made again and again. What's one you could make this week? 👇 🌾 My Regenerative Revolution Dhanalakshmi's story is only a glimpse.
