Pattern I’ve noticed: people who get a taste of open, innovative, productive culture develop high expectations quickly... even when they’ve been stuck in and even accepted “mud” (massive under delivery) for years. I welcome the passion. And encourage patience. – at Victoria, British Columbia

Sometimes there is a pause and the sun comes out. It’s more glorious in the forest, but whatever your setting, may the pause give you recharge and the encouragement to continue.

I've got a flight booked for this afternoon from the coast to Kelowna, landing around 6pm... airline's not suggesting delays as of yet. Any thoughts on this?

I’ve asked a loved one to become familiar with mental health resources. They’ve reached out to me but are not at the point of crisis. I want them to be ready. To not be overwhelmed by searching for the path when they are on their knees. helpstartshere.gov.bc.ca/men…

I had 2 meaningful conversations with women during our #MoosehideCampaign march to the legislature yesterday. Like me, both had suffered setbacks due to violence. We all were making efforts to save others. We shed light and share hope. And, we need systemic barriers gone.

Today our scrum master asked us to take a moment to reflect on on how grateful we are within our team. By the end, we simply wondered how we might express the supportive spirit, safety, and joy of being a highly functional team… so that others might believe it is possible.

Hylo is crushing it when it comes to colliding all kinds of good work and effective methods with a foundation of healthy community. This update points to multiple new collaborations in the world of human centered design with agriculture and tech. 😍 medium.com/terran-collective…

If I was to produce a music album about working in public service, during fiscal year end, 6 months before an election… what genre would it be and why?

Resonant and a prompt for me as I explore my own love/hate relationship with the leadership domain.
A comment about integrity and leadership... About a year ago, I felt the need to take on a very delicate task -- which was to make the attempt of bringing greater coherence to the regenerative movement globally by healing the relational field among people who have problems with my existence. For strange reasons that only make sense in their historical context, I have become a catalyst of both integration and fragmentation among regenerative leaders throughout the last ten years. The outcome being that many of the incoherent patterns across the movement can be felt in the entanglement of relationships that different people have with me. What I have learned from this healing effort is that the most significant breakdowns in the field are not about me at all. They are related to ego insecurities of specific people and their "need" to build their own fiefdoms of prestige and importance. I am an anomaly in the movement because at my core I am just a Missouri farm boy trying to be of service. I don't care about ego recognition or being seen as important. I don't need affiliations with those who hold prestige and power. What I need is truth and authenticity -- together with practical knowledge about what actually works on the ground. Unfortunately, this is experienced as threatening by those who build their fiefdoms on name recognition and affiliation with those who are perceived as powerful within the established systems of organizational leadership and financial positioning. Things I don't really care about. For example, I don't have organizational affiliations. I prefer to work with people directly and I have found that it is the humans (not the organizations) who truly make the difference. Also, I travel the world and immerse myself in real community processes to discover those who are the real leaders of the regenerative movement. What I've found is that the real leaders are quietly going about their work of healing land and weaving community relationships on the ground. You wouldn't know about them if you didn't travel to see them. They don't write books. They don't teach courses with large enrollments. What they do is create living tapestry of well-being among humans and the larger life community in their places. This is where the real integrity is. And it is truly profound how often it is not present in this fiefdoms of prestige and ego-validation that drive too many who have come to be seen as leaders in the movement. Written with love for the world, Joe

And, this problem isn’t a problem for most of us to solve. It’s a problem space held by a powerful or especially equipped few most of us have limited visibility into. The tactics need to match.
Replying to @yishan @ESYudkowsky
Again, I will say this: any time you see a comedic large-scale error by AI, it is evidence that we do not know how to align and control it, that we are not even close.

Garden planning with my new Bing CoPilot... not going so well. I figured I could *at least* get the bot to help me plan to optimize my yields by adding up the pounds of beans I could grow in my space. Nope. It adjusted when I pointed out the error... but 90 lbs???

I mean, math is hard, right? But what is really going on here is that context is missing. The problem space needs to be explored, including intent, scope, and assumptions. I asked CoPilot to check their math again.

The bot is a lot more human than I expected in this scenario. It is over thinking and not seeking to clarify its bias enough. And it is quite possibly bad at math (which is to say, it's not good at understanding the problem space.)
