A man (an independent auditor recording under the channel/handle Creasolri) was standing in a public roadway/right of way on McLean Avenue (near the Islamic Center of Northwest Florida) filming with his phone. An Escambia County female deputy arrived on scene and engaged in an argument with the citizen while he was recording. The verbal confrontation escalated over public access rights, providing identification, and requests to call a supervisor. During the exchange, physical proximity and space became an issue, leading to a tense standoff where the auditor alleged the deputy improperly touched or pushed him while he was legally standing on public property. The interaction lasted nearly 8 minutes without an arrest being made. Following the release of the video and bodycam footage, the Escambia County Sheriff's Office placed the deputy on administrative assignment/leave pending an internal review. Sheriff's office officials reviewed the bodycam and bystander footage to evaluate officer conduct, de escalation protocols, and public property recording laws. After completing their internal review regarding the interaction, local news outlets reported that the department cleared the administrative inquiry for her return to active duty status.
