In 2026, CMS identified 189,000 improper subsidized enrollments and stopped an estimated $738 million in improper payments this year alone. Together with @DrOzCMS, we are rooting out fraud and waste, protecting taxpayer dollars, and making sure these programs serve the Americans who rely on them. We are not removing eligible Americans from these programs. We are removing improper enrollments and stopping improper payments so we can protect these programs for the people who truly need them. That is what fighting fraud is about.

Natural kratom and dangerous, enhanced opioid products are NOT the same. HHS is following the science and drawing a clear line between the two. HHS' new recommendation gives @DEAHQ precise, science-based thresholds to target concentrated 7-OH and MGPI products without sweeping natural botanical kratom into Schedule I.

The @nytimes and @apoorva_nyc owe parents the facts behind their alarming hepatitis B reporting. The paper they discuss is a “modeling study” or simulation based on assumptions, not a study of evidence or outcomes. The model assumes allowing parents and doctors to decide when or whether to vaccinate would drive vaccine completion down to just half of children. The researchers did not observe that decline or establish that our policy would cause it. Yet the Times obscures that assumption while amplifying the alarming prediction it produces. At its December meeting, ACIP recommended that parents and doctors decide whether and when to begin hepatitis B vaccination. CDC’s January update to the childhood vaccine schedule carried forward that approach. Yet the researchers assigned sharply different vaccination rates to the two, producing different infection projections. The Times should explain what justifies that difference before attributing its alarming 83% figure to the January update. The article also gets the recommendation wrong. The recommendation did not tell parents to wait until two months to decide. Parents could choose vaccination at birth. The two-month suggestion applied to administering the first dose if parents deferred the birth dose. The recommendation retained birth-dose vaccination for babies whose mothers have hepatitis B or whose status is unknown. For babies whose mothers test negative, it gave parents and doctors a choice about when or whether to begin vaccination. I reject the idea that respecting parents’ choices means abandoning children’s health. Under my leadership, HHS puts informed consent, individual medical circumstances, and conversations between parents and doctors at the center of health decisions. I welcome rigorous scrutiny of our policies. But scrutiny demands accurate reporting, defensible assumptions, and evidence. The Times should correct its error and explain the assumptions behind its headline. Parents deserve the full story. nytimes.com/2026/10/19/healt…

🚨 RECORD-BREAKING investment in America's next generation of scientists! Under @POTUS, @NIHDirector_Jay, and @SecKennedy's leadership, @NIH awarded research grants to 1,648 early-career investigators in FY2026 — the most in NIH history! We're investing in American talent, strengthening gold-standard science, and accelerating discoveries that will improve and save lives.
Researchers tend to have their best, most innovative ideas early in their careers. But for decades, researchers have had to wait longer and longer to test their own ideas. Thrilled by the progress we’ve made so far on this front, including the huge milestone of setting a new record for grants supporting early-stage investigators.

Today, we’re announcing a deferral of $1.2 BILLION MORE dollars from California. Personal care services in CA have grown 24% in just three years — twice the average rate of other states. When the numbers don’t add up, we don’t look the other way. The American taxpayer deserves answers.

1 day left to comment! HHS is seeking public input on the potential health effects of radiofrequency and electromagnetic field (EMF) exposure from cell phones, Wi-Fi, and other wireless technologies. Help us identify research gaps and better understand how these technologies may affect our health, especially the health of our children. Submit comments by October 21: federalregister.gov/document…
The MAHA Strategy gave us a clear mission: investigate the relationship between electromagnetic radiation and health, identify gaps in our knowledge, and make sure federal policy keeps pace with rapidly changing technology. We promised to act, and today we are. We launched a formal Request for Information on radiofrequency and electromagnetic field emissions and their potential effects on human health. ACF launched A Home for Every Child nearly a year ago with a simple mission: improve the ratio of foster homes to children in need of care. Now that all 50 states have joined the initiative, there is nationwide commitment to ensure we have homes waiting on kids, instead of kids waiting on homes. A new HHS report examines the current five states with the best ratios of foster homes to children and identifies strategies that have led to their success: 1. Recruiting foster parents 2. Updating foster home licensure and approval 3. Supporting and retaining foster parents 4. Preventing entry into foster care 5. Promoting permanency and placement stability ACF encourages all states and stakeholders to learn from the range of approaches that have helped Idaho, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, and Vermont strengthen foster care capacity and move towards A Home for Every Child.
