Dear @Sciencedirect (Elsevier),
Your new proofing system is an ai dumpster fire.
Sincerely,
Everyone
I am thrilled that Frankenstein has won an Oscar for best production design! It was a pleasure working with my fellow Nova Scotians, Tamara and Shane, to build their Arctic ship!
Frankenstein wins for best production design! It was an extraordinary experience working with Tamara and Shane to build their ship and arctic scenes.
Congratulations to Tamara Deverell and Shane Vieau, winner of the Critics Choice Award for Best Production Design for “Frankenstein.”

The money spent to fill the front row of this circus could fund many seasons of actual fieldwork, contributing to defining the real archaeological record, not pseudoscience nonsense.

When Hancock’s drivel is in the dustbin with the flat earthers and moon landing deniers, Flint’s work will be referenced and cited for generations - because Flint has actually done real archaeology. He has made real archaeological discoveries using scientific methods.
A nice shoutout in Variety today!

We can talk more about Crozier’s orders if you wish, but my interpretation of them is consistent with both the historical context of RN discipline and the use of the word in other official orders.

I didn’t find it polite, and your snarky and public comments afterwards belie an attitude that is consistent with my feelings at the time. As you have no doubt learned from your studies, it’s never appropriate to assume someone got something wrong just because you disagree.

Perhaps in the future, you can say I had a different interpretation from you and not a misinterpretation. As you move to publish your own work, I’m sure you will appreciate such congeniality.

For example, in RN commissions of the period, authorize is often used in the context of taking command. In such situations “authorize” was synonymous with “require”, emphasizing duty over optionality.
Replying to @CaptFitzjamesRN @MrBoatman1845
There is a much more nuanced interpretation of this, which I used. You have to consider what authorized meant from a legal and military perspective, which is what I did.

This isn’t too polite from my perspective, just FYI. xitter.cf/captfitzjamesrn/status…

Pro Crozy, we love to see it. Legitimate criticism of Fitzjames: sure, that's fine. But Betts was just hating on Fitzjames for no reason, taking things out of context.

Praise from Variety: ‘the “Frankenstein” crew built 360-degree versions of… the ship on which Victor and the creature have their final confrontation.“I want real sets,” del Toro explains. “I don’t want digital….I want old-fashioned craftsmanship”….’
Guillermo del Toro refused to make #Frankenstein with too much visual effects and green screens: "I want real sets."
"I don’t want digital. I don’t want AI. I don’t want simulation. I want old-fashioned craftsmanship. I want people painting, building, hammering, plastering."
