If I blew my account today, here's exactly what I'd do so it never happens again. I've been trading for 10 years. The trades that hurt me the most were never bad setups. They were the ones I took trying to get back to even. First, I'd figure out where my zero line is. It's the balance you started the day with. When you're below it, every trade starts to look like a way out. That's when you take setups you'd normally skip and size up without even thinking about it. Then, before every trade, I'd ask myself one question. Would I take this if I were flat on the day? If the answer is yes, I take it at my normal size. If it's no, that's the zero line talking, and I skip it. The hard part is catching yourself in the moment. When you're trading alone, nobody's there to tell you that you're trading your P&L and not the chart. I've had an idea I can't stop thinking about.
