Greg's play last week moved him up in the Schwab Cup standings. He is now, officially, the Bubble Boy to qualify for next week's @SchwabCupFinale.

Instruction is better, tech is better, the clubs and balls are better—but are golfers getting any better? In this episode, Mark and Lou discuss golf improvement and the handicap system. Is the average handicap index of amateur golfers moving? What factors go into the relative static nature of the average index? Episode links and Mark's cuteness opening doors👇

OK, that's a start, Mr. Chalmers. Still a lot of guys left on the course, but for now, Greg is within the top 10 after the first round of the first playoff event.
Where things stand for @GregChalmersPGA as the @SchwabCupFinale Playoffs begin this week at the @StifelCC. Greg's in this week and is good to get in next week's Top 54, but needs some good results to get into the Finale.

Mark's been doing club reviews for a long time, and it shows: no outlandish claims (either good or bad), clear numbers, and the most honest conclusion: there are a lot of good clubs, and you need to see 1) what works for you and 2) what you *like*.

Good solid round by Greg again; right in the thick of things. A reminder: Greg's locked in for the beginning of the Schwab Cup Playoffs, but needs to move up a couple of spots these next few weeks to get into the finale and secure his full card for next season:

Lou would like that back. He uses that to reach things on his desk outside his wingspan.
The Greggie travels with his own massage team so can totally relate to Rory here…😎

Huh? Why do college golfers struggle the most on their first hole? Many college tournaments use shotgun starts. One player’s first hole might be hole 12, while another’s might be hole 3. I looked at each golfer’s round in the order they played it and compared their score with what the field averaged on that hole. Looking at round 1 across many hundreds of events, the first hole a player played was their worst. They improved over the next few holes, then level off around their sixth hole. The shape of the data stays the same when you break it down by hole difficulty or player skill level. What’s behind it? ▶️First-tee nerves? ▶️The 20+ minute gap from when they hit the last warm-up shot to when they start the round? ▶️Something else? Thoughts?
