the fact that you can’t even afford a little treat or buy yourself something nice without feeling like you’ve made a terrible financial decision is so exhausting. you’re working 9–5, 40 hours a week, and somehow even enjoying the money you earn feels irresponsible.
Having ambitious social development conversations without considering economics is a delusion I’d rather avoid.

A lot of people suck at optimism because it requires creativity. Negativity doesn't demand you challenge your assumptions, which is why it's the default. Finding the good asks more of you. You have to be creative enough to imagine and consider possibilities that aren't directly in front of you.
