We always want our programming to be a voice to those who don’t feel heard, and this #InternationalWomensDay we are giving a special shout-out to all the women in Tottenham and beyond that have made Bernie Grant Arts Centre what it is today! ✨💪🏿❤️

In the words of the legendary June Jordan: “I am a feminist, and what that means to me is much the same as the meaning of the fact that I am Black; it means that I must undertake to love myself and to respect myself as though my very life depends upon self-love and self-respect.”

This includes the experiences of women who are too often forgotten or left out of the conversation - women of colour, disabled women, trans women, working class women, refugee women, and more #IWD2022

This #InternationalWomensDay we at Bernie Grant Arts Centre want to take a minute to celebrate the full range of experiences that embody modern womanhood #IWD2022

Tomorrow! Our celebration of Revolutionary Love begins bringing incredible Black British writers and authors to this year's #TottenhamLiteratureFestival! Join us for an inspirational week of talks, workshops and screenings. See the full line up here > bit.ly/3lgzjrb

.@SholaMos1 has delicious discourse for days. The lawyer, political & women’s rights activist, consistently tripwires our current government. ‘This Is Why I Resist: Don’t Define My Black Identify’ is her vital debut book. Buy it! #BHM365 #BlackHistoryMonth

Founder of the joyfully infused Black LBGTQ+ youth organisation @ExistLoudlyUK, @TanyaCompas is great on unapologetic queer expansion, recently firing a conversation that ‘coming out’ would be better replaced by a declaration of ‘letting people in' #BHM365 #BlackHistoryMonth

Dr Patricia Kingori makes the excellent point that the civil unrest of August 2011 marked a turning point in how people used digital technology and social media as a tool in protest. “We saw the beginning of young people starting to have a voice outside of traditional media”
