SPOILER ALERT: SARS-CoV-2 is a circulating vaccine-derived-coronavirus (cVDCV) via the PLA, but borne from work originally done at UNC, the only institution that’s been attempting to design a LAV for SARS and chimeras needed for attenuation...

IT'S SERIAL PASSAGE ALL-THE-WAY DOWN.
"Without incorporating the historical and biological implications of serial viral passage either through lab animals in vivo or through cell cultures in vitro, it is impossible to comprehensively evaluate whether SARS‐CoV‐2 is the result of a laboratory leak or a natural zoonotic jump.
Moreover, despite the published consensus being that SARS‐CoV‐2 arose naturally, because these publications universally ignore the scenario of the widely used practice of laboratory serial passage, this latter scenario deserves a thorough investigation.
Especially since serial passage through a live animal host simply forces the same molecular processes that occur in nature to happen during a zoonotic jump, and in vitro passage through cell culture mimics many elements of this process—and neither necessarily leaves any distinguishing genetic traces."

"It’s an intriguing concept. Just as life on Earth has become more complex over time — developing from single cells to multicellular organisms — atoms, stars and minerals might follow their own evolutionary principles.
Hazen and Wong argue that order will inevitably arise from relative disorder as long as three prerequisites are met: the potential for many possible configurations, the capacity to create new forms and the means to select between them.
The tendency towards increased organization is, they contend, so ubiquitous that there “must be a second arrow of time” that explains “the universal tendency for certain systems to display increases in order”.

Calling a scientific argument “race supremacist” does not answer it. My motives are irrelevant to whether Maximum Genetic Diversity (MGD) or Out of East Asia is correct. Scientific questions should be settled by evidence and logic, not by assigning political motives to those proposing alternative theories.
There is also a basic incentive problem with your attribution of motive. Someone proposing a genuinely new scientific theory has an enormous incentive to establish that it is true—priority, recognition, and potentially a lasting place in the history of the field. By comparison, I gain essentially nothing from promoting some pre-existing racial or political belief. Indeed, embracing scientifically false claims for ideological reasons would only damage the credibility of my theory and work against my primary objective.
None of this proves that my theory is correct. It does mean that attributing my work primarily to “race supremacism” is a poor substitute for engaging with the obvious central motivation: I want to convince scientists that the theory itself is valid. If MGD or Out of East Asia is wrong, show where the evidence or reasoning fails.

It hard to believe it is starting to take shape so quickly.
We are very nearly at the half way stage for the build!

The reason so many want to focus on a nebulous "lab leak" and not a reverting live-attenuated vaccine (LAV) is to prevent the DARPA and PLA scientists involved from taking the full blame, and the public from panicking since LAVs like OPV can't be stopped with vaccines.
Notice how none of them ever, ever, EVER warn about how dangerous this virus is? Not one word.
It's obviously a LAV because:
🧪Baric’s lab at UNC was the only place on earth attempting to make SARS-like LAVs
🧪SARS-CoV-2 is demonstrating the highly convergent “gatekeeping” mutations that are the hallmark of the best-studied reverting LAV, OPV
🧪SARS-CoV-2’s behavior indicates it may have been cold-adapted, a common approach with LAVs to make sure they can replicate in the upper respiratory tract but not the lungs
🧪SARS-Cov-2’s genes are generally more potent immune suppressors than their homologues from the other coronaviruses, including the temporally paradoxical observation that “SARS-CoV-2 proteins are more potent in their inhibition of innate immune signaling than the corresponding SARS-CoV-1 protein."
🧪SARS-CoV-2 has a novel gene named CaORF15 which encodes a protein which has never been seen before other than in RaTG13, which is a consensus sequence with no natural provenance either, and seems to have the immunosuppressive activity that you would expect for a vaccine.
🧪SARS-Cov-2’s CpG dinucleotide ratio looks like it was part of the same codon deoptimization used to attenuate OPV

After all, as the godfather of gain-of-function ferret-work himself Ron Fouchier noted rather presciently in July of 2019 during the European Congress of Virology, a few months before the start of the Wuhan Military Games:
“That’s what happened in the 70s, people were trying to do live-attenuated vaccines and doing human challenge studies and that might be the way the H1 re-emerged in the 70s. Some people say it was a lab accident. I don’t believe that. I think it was actually human challenge studies and live-attenuated vaccines that reverted that are the likely candidates of the 1970 reemergence of H1. And we need to make sure that doesn’t happen again.”
It was Ron Fouchier who wrote about scrutinizing "all outbreaks from the past" -- I assess this effectively threatened Garry and Andersen since they are implicated in Ebola 2014. This may well have compelled them to sign Proximal Origins more than other pressures. I think in a recent interview I mistakenly said it was Jeremy Farrar. ht @Rebecca21951651 #correction

And yet, for some reason, accepting blood from people who have had Covid or who have LongCovid is deemed perfectly safe. We aren’t really studying this. There are no warnings. It’s not on anyone’s radar.

Feynman’s “cargo cult science” describes research that follows all the outward forms of science but lacks its most essential discipline: actively seeking evidence that could prove one’s favored theory wrong. Molecular evolution should heed this warning. When genetic equidistance, variable mutation rates, and pervasive functional constraint challenge established assumptions, the key question is whether we genuinely test the foundations—or continually add auxiliary explanations to preserve the prevailing framework.

nature.com/articles/s41586-0… Africans carry more structural variants across frequency classes, including rare variants more likely to be functional or deleterious. This suggests an alternative explanation for high African genetic diversity: greater tolerance for functional variation, rather than necessarily a longer evolutionary history as assumed by the OOA narrative.

"And just maybe it’s worth considering that there was something just a little bit fishy about Event 201, co-sponsored by Gates and the World Economic Forum, which was all about developing an emergency vaccine in response to a global pandemic, and which went down just as this pandemic has been estimated to have emerged."
Bill Gates held a top secret Q Clearance for 7 years, through the entire pandemic. He’s not an elected official. He’s not a scientist at NIH. He’s just a very wealthy private citizen who helped shaped the government’s COVID response.

Any chance you could post whatever original thoughts you've had about an engineered virus, or do others deserve the credit for the ideas you've only echoed?
In response to one of my recent tweets, @ashishkjha said he now believes the most likely origin of COVID-19 is a research-related incident in Wuhan. This is most welcome and extremely helpful.
I’ve been making this case since early 2020 and continue to believe the evidence most strongly supports that conclusion.
This should never have been a partisan issue. We must follow the evidence wherever it leads. Kudos to Ashish for saying so publicly. The future of science, public trust, and pandemic preparedness depends on this type of honesty.
🧬And sometimes the "intermediate species" is an obvious lab animal.
"2.3. Ferreting Out the Signs of Serial Passage
Curiously, studies examining SARS‐CoV‐2's infectivity in ferrets found that it spreads readily among them, and also appears airborne in that animal model.[ 38 ] This lends support to the idea that ferrets may have been used for serial passage since viruses typically take a significant many months if not years to acclimate enough to spread at all among any new species, nonetheless become airborne, which requires further mutations."
