Haskell Works retweeted
Why it matters:
* Uses 18-46x less memory than traditional JSON parsers
* 1.2-6x faster than system jq
* SIMD accelerated on x86_64 (AVX2/AVX-512) and ARM (NEON)
* no_std compatible

What it does:
* Bitvector with O(1) rank and O(log n) select (~3% overhead)
* Balanced parentheses for tree navigation (~6% overhead)
* JSON semi-indexing at 950 MiB/s - navigate JSON without parsing the whole thing
* jq-style queries built in

But it differs in that it doesn't return a "special value" when it runs out of bits because it doesn't run out of bits.
The function behaves as if it is querying a zero-filled infinite bit string prefixed with the bits of the input Word64.
The broadword implementation is based off the work in this paper "Broadword Implementation of Parenthesis Queries" by Sebastiano Vigna.

The broadword implementation beats the reference implementation if the scan runs 16-bits or more.

It is property tested against a reference implementation that does the same thing using a loop to scan a-bit-at-a-time.

This monstrosity uses broadword techniques to implement "zero-indexed find position of unmatched closing parenthesis from starting position in a Word64" operation
