Pan-Africanist: Africa is poor because Europeans spent centuries exploiting our resources.
Normal African: Colonialism was exploitative. But who controls those resources today?
Pan-Africanist: African governments, technically. But Western corporations still benefit.
Normal African: Who signs the contracts with those corporations?
Pan-Africanist: Our corrupt leaders.
Normal African: And who receives the money?
Pan-Africanist: Our corrupt leaders.
Normal African: So why is your revolution always directed at London and Paris instead of the presidential palace down the road?
Pan-Africanist: Because you don't understand how neocolonialism works.
Normal African: Apparently, it works by making African presidents steal money and buy mansions in the countries they claim are oppressing us.
Pan-Africanist: You're oversimplifying centuries of systemic exploitation.
Normal African: Fair enough. Let's talk about solutions. How do we become economically independent?
Pan-Africanist: We must reject Western dependency and build African institutions.
Normal African: Excellent. Where should we start?
Pan-Africanist: Education, technology, infrastructure, manufacturing.
Normal African: Agreed. Why haven't we done that?
Pan-Africanist: Because Western powers deliberately keep Africa underdeveloped.
Normal African: So the West is powerful enough to prevent 54 African countries from developing, but somehow powerless to stop China, South Korea, Singapore and other former poor countries from industrializing?
Pan-Africanist: Their historical circumstances were different.
Normal African: Exactly. So perhaps we should study what they did differently instead of treating history as a permanent excuse.
Pan-Africanist: You sound like someone who worships white people.
Normal African: I thought we were discussing economics.
Pan-Africanist: Economics cannot be separated from colonial history.
Normal African: Neither can it be separated from present-day leadership, corruption, productivity, education and institutions.
Pan-Africanist: Africa needs leaders like Thomas Sankara.
Normal African: Sankara received formal education and military training through institutions established under French colonial rule. Should we acknowledge that too?
Pan-Africanist: That's colonial mentality. He used their knowledge against them.
Normal African: Wonderful. So we agree that knowledge is useful regardless of who introduced it?
Pan-Africanist: You're missing the point.
Normal African: I'm beginning to suspect the point is that everything good is African resistance and everything bad is European influence.
Pan-Africanist: We must decolonize the African mind!
Normal African: Can we first fix the public hospital?
Pan-Africanist: You cannot fix institutions without first liberating the African mind.
Normal African: The hospital has had no medicine for three weeks.
Pan-Africanist: That's the legacy of colonialism.
Normal African: The health minister just bought himself a new Range Rover.
Pan-Africanist: You really need to read more African history.
Normal African: And you need to read the Auditor-General's report.

York cobblestones. 2006 vs 2026.
Well maintained in 2006. Can’t be arsed to maintain properly and just plaster with tarmac patches in 2026. British civic pride decay in a nutshell.

Fascists and communists have both practiced:
• State-directed production
• Suppression of economic freedom
• Confiscation of private property
• State control of labor
• Price and wage controls
• Political control of industry
• Suppression of dissent
• Subordination of individual rights to collective objectives
• Concentration of political and economic power
Their justifications differ. Their methods overlap considerably.
One subordinates the individual to the nation, the other to the class.
Capitalism subordinates neither to the state.
The distinction that matters isn't which collective supposedly benefits from coercion. It's whether individuals have the right to refuse it.

Capitalism recognizes that we're human beings, not sacrificial animals belonging to one another.
It encourages both competition and cooperation, with the latter vastly outweighing the former. Even competitors depend on countless voluntary relationships of mutual benefit.
Socialism makes us adversaries by turning one person's needs into an enforceable claim against another person's property.
Worse, it forces people to compete for political favoritism, fighting over government redistribution of an increasingly smaller economic pie.
Under capitalism, competition encourages us to create more wealth by serving others better. Under socialism, political competition encourages us to seize a larger share of what others produce.
One rewards cooperation and value creation. The other rewards political influence and coercive redistribution.
And somehow the latter is supposed to remind us of our humanity.

If you actually believed this, you'd be typing it on a typewriter.
Instead, you're using technology that would have seemed like science fiction 50 years ago to complain that nothing has improved.
Medicine, communication, transportation, agriculture, computing, life expectancy, and access to information have all advanced enormously.
But apparently none of that counts because someone got rich providing things people wanted.
Imagine being so consumed by envy that you can't even recognize progress you're benefiting from.

The irony is that communists still imagine themselves leading a workers' revolution when their ideology demands that workers surrender control over their labor, their property, and ultimately their lives to the state.
They call capitalists the class enemy while demanding a political ruling class with powers no capitalist could ever legitimately exercise.
They aren't fighting to liberate workers from masters. They're fighting over who gets to be the master.

You'd be surprised how often this happens. Several times Ive been met with abuse for trying to warn people - especially with children - that what they're doing is dangerous.
Tip tip on holiday in Kernow:
1) the waves are much bigger and stronger than they look
2) learn to spot rip tides
3) follow the fishermen - if fishermen appear on cliffs, gather your stuff and run like hell. The tide comes in very quickly here, and very powerfully. Fishermen know the water and only turn up when the tide is due in.
If the tide is already in, and there's nobody fishing - do NOT go in.
If the tide is out, and nobody is around - do NOT go in.
4) If there are no surfers/body boarders in the water - do NOT go in. Surfers, like fishermen, know the local waters better than you.
5) if a local tells you what you're doing is dangerous - listen to them: they know the water better than you.
6) if there are no lifeguards and you have your children with you - do NOT go in.
