SO GOOD! From @stevemagness:
"Playgrounds & free play are risk calibration tools....When risk is removed from play, kids are more prone to anxiety disorders, because they never develop the ability to cope with fear-inducing situations."

Let's get #NoKingsMarch28th trending. Tomorrow is the day.
Let's get this tweet to have 1.2 million or more views by tomorrow night. If you agree that we should not have a wannabe dictator as president, watch the video, reply and read the embedded Tweet.
In addition to the #NoKingsMarch28 protest, I want to make you aware that there are 2 elections happening next Tuesday: one in Georgia's 14th district and the other for the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
Democrats need to turn out for both of them, both of them flip if every Dem votes

I run a small pizza shop. Deliveries mostly. Late nights. Got a call at 10 PM. Woman’s voice shaking. “Can you deliver to Sunset Motel?” “Yes ma’am. What would you like?” Long pause. “What can I get for six dollars? I have three kids.” Six dollars wouldn’t cover one pizza. “We have a special tonight. Family meal. Three pizzas, breadsticks, drinks. Six dollars.” No such special. She started crying. “Really?” Made the pizzas myself. Added wings. Cookies. Juice boxes. Drove it over.
She opened the door. Bruises on her neck. Three little kids behind her. Terrified. Quiet. “Thank you. You don’t understand.” I did understand. Started happening weekly. She’d call. I’d have a special ready. Month three she didn’t call anymore. Worried me. Two months later she walked in. Different person. Confident. Had a job. Apartment. Kids looked healthy. Happy. Handed me three hundred dollars. “For all the specials that weren’t real. I knew.” Tried to refuse. “Please. Let me pay forward.” That money started a fund. When someone calls from a shelter or motel desperate, we use it. Six years now. Over a thousand meals delivered. She’s a paralegal. Refers families to us constantly. Works with domestic violence survivors. Her oldest is in high school. Works at my shop weekends. “Because you fed us when we were running. Now I want to feed others.” Last Saturday she delivered to a family at that same motel. Came back crying. “That was us five years ago. Now I get to be you.”

Put aside for a moment the righteous beauty of the Puerto Rican diaspora unfurling before our eyes and ears underneath a swinging horn arrangement & a rhythm section that would make Tito Puente proud.
The dancing that mesmerized & celebrated life itself weaving in and out of a story line that felt like the Diego Rivera mural ‘Man at the Crossroads’ come to life. Art that rises to the occasion like Bad Bunny’s performance is a rare bird.
It reacted to the complexity and peril of this moment by transcending it and reminding us all of our common humanity and the joy and dignity that resides in every human heart.
The vibrant and beautiful culture this world has gifted us is always cause for celebration. In a time of reactionary retreats, it was expansive & life affirming and made obvious the moral challenge of this moment.
It did so with energy, poetry, light and love. It called on our better angels to rise to the occasion. I believe we will.🙏

Joy doesn't wait for permission or perfect timing. It doesn't postpone itself until every wound has healed, until the chaos settles, until the ledger of life balances itself. Instead, joy emerges like wildflowers through concrete — in the spaces we least expect it, through the fissures of our carefully constructed defenses. It arrives as a sudden burst of golden light piercing winter's gray veil, as the inexplicable warmth of a stranger's smile when we needed it most, as the bridge of connection spanning the gulf between two lonely souls. I've witnessed its stubborn persistence in my own journey, even through downturns of life, burning like a match struck in a cave, small but undeniable, refusing to be extinguished no matter how fierce the wind.

This winter, I brought to life something that has lived in my imagination for years—the first annual print edition of The Gurdeep Magazine. It features writing from other contributors alongside my own work. If you feel called to hold this warmth of printed words in your hands, visit Gurdeep.ca/magazine.

I keep this on my desktop: “Words are innocent, neutral, precise, standing for this, describing that, meaning the other, so if you look after them you can build bridges across the incomprehension and chaos. But when they get their corners knocked off, they’re no good anymore.
“I don’t think writers are sacred, but words are. They deserve respect. If you get the right ones in the right order, you can nudge the world a little or make a poem which children will speak for you when you’re dead.”
Tom Stoppard
