Reflecting on a future in which Europe assumes greater responsibility for its own security, Major noted: “Europeans will be worse off because with a big political, military, nuclear, strategic ally we are stronger...the DNA of European defense is deeply American, so we have to change our DNA.”

The fifth annual @HelSecForum is now behind us.✨
As a long-term supporter of the forum, Patria was proud to be strongly represented throughout the event. On Friday, our President and CEO, Panu Routila, joined the panel discussion “Ramping up Defence in Europe”. The discussion explored how closer cooperation and a stronger industrial base can help strengthen Europe's defence capabilities.
On Saturday, Patria and @Navyfi hosted a capability showcase for forum participants. Visitors had the opportunity to take a closer look at Patria AMV XP and Patria 6x6 vehicles, as well as seeing the Patria TREMOS mortar system. Participants also had the chance to visit the Hamina-class missile boat Pori, whose mid-life upgrade was led by Patria.
A heartfelt thank you to the organisers and all participants for three inspiring days in Helsinki.

Today, at #HSF2026 I spoke about the frontier states and the future of the sceuity and readiness.
One thing is clear: Russia is not deterred by declarations, concepts or institutional debates. It is deterred by forces, capabilities and resolve
#NATO has the plan, the targets and the mission. Our task is simple: invest, build and deploy. Deterrence is measured in steel, armor and readiness—not in papers.
The priority is also not duplicating structures or drafting new visions - it’s delivering the capabilities we have already committed to.
Europe’s security starts with a stronger frontline, stronger defence industry and stronger NATO capabilities

Today at Helsinki Security Forum, ICEYE CEO @rmodrzewski and @Nokia CEO @justinhotard agreed: technological sovereignty is now a must for Europe, and speed of innovation is the key to it.
More and more nations realize they need critical tech and communications inside their own borders. Some have found it challenging to rely on services provided by others when communicating on the battlefield. Others have been unable to reach people trapped by floods when ground infrastructure failed.
What they need is their own space-based, dual-use capability that supports both defense and civil needs like disaster response.
That's what ICEYE and Nokia have teamed up to build: sovereign satellite communications under full national control, working no matter what happens on the ground.
The first satellites are expected to launch in 2028, and we're moving at the speed nations need.
