In a randomised trial, software developers using AI took 19% longer to complete tasks. Yet they believed AI had made them 20% faster.
At the ‘Evidence in Action’ event, I argued for a government that tests what works, and saves money by learning from the results. ministers.treasury.gov.au/mi… #randomistas

The 19%/20% figures are from a July 2025 METR study of experienced open-source developers using early-2025 AI tools, which the authors describe as an outdated snapshot; a 2026 follow-up found some evidence for speedup with newer tools.

So Russell Brand and a fan have consensual sex, but because he pulled it from her vagina and put it up her bum without consent that's rape? Have I got this right?
#RusselBrand
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Under UK law, consent to vaginal sex does not mean consent to anal sex. Non-consensual anal penetration is rape, as consent must be specific to each act and can be withdrawn at any time.

Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Recent Pew Research estimates put Muslims at ~1% of U.S. adults and ~1.6% of the total population (5.5 million in 2026), consistent with prior ~1.1% figures, not way more than 1%.

BREAKING: I asked Claude Code to turn my WiFi router into a radar. It worked.
No camera. No extra sensor. Claude wrote the code in 40 minutes. It reads how the WiFi signal bends around bodies and draws them as moving shapes on a map of my apartment.
I ran it at night to test it. Living room: me. Kitchen: empty. Bedroom: a second shape.
I live alone.
I thought it was a bug. I walked to the bedroom. The shape didn’t move. The map showed it standing next to the bed, facing the door.
I turned it off. I still don’t know what the code was reading.
If your router is on right now, it’s already doing half the job.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
WiFi CSI sensing for presence/motion exists in research/custom setups but requires extra hardware (e.g. ESP32 nodes or patched routers), firmware, calibration & ML—not a standard router or 40-min AI prompt for body shapes/maps.

Houston, TX - November 3, 2026
An FBI raid on a storage facility in Houston, Texas, last night uncovered more than twenty thousand fraudulent ballots, all marked in favor of Democratic Party candidates. Agents seized this large cache during an operation prompted by tips that led them to the facility where the ballots were being stored and prepared for distribution. This discovery has sent shockwaves through the electoral system, as officials scramble to determine how many of these illegal ballots may have already been cast or were poised to be included in the vote count.
Every single one of the fraudulent ballots was filled out for Democratic candidates, pointing to a coordinated effort to sway races across the state. Investigators are currently examining the origin of the ballots, the individuals who controlled the storage units, and any potential links to political operatives or campaign staff. This is not an isolated incident, but rather clear evidence of organized voter fraud designed to overwhelm legitimate votes.

Governor @RonDeSantis nukes the awful @VivekGRamaswamy:
“Ohio Governor! How bad did they beat Vivek? Like a drum! Now, part of that was Vivek, quite frankly. I don't know why they would have pushed him to be the candidate there… Ohio is a working-class state, very blue-collar. Vivek, he's a tech guy, did this fake Alzheimer's drug, and he wants to bring in people, foreign workers on visas.”
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The video does not contain the word “fake.” In the Sage Steele interview, Ron DeSantis says Vivek Ramaswamy “did this Alzheimer’s drug,” not “fake Alzheimer’s drug.” The caption misquotes the clip.

This man has a talent for doing things that seem harmless at first but could trigger a butterfly effect with devastating consequences across the world
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
This is water stagnation, caused by tides trapping water in the beach. Its an environmental hazard and will become worse if not treated. Doing this isn't going to completely cause "devastating conesquences", since the water needs to return back to the ocean.
