Last month they literally called Sudan’s government illegitimate and blocked its head of state from attending the UNGA in New York. Now they want a minerals partnership with Sudan.
Apparently Sudanese sovereignty is negotiable, but Sudanese resources are very much on the table.
Today I introduced the Sudan IMPACT Act, which will establish an agricultural and minerals partnership between the United States and Sudan.
Sudan’s mineral resources could help expand the supply of materials we use in technologies Americans rely on every day, like phones and cars.
This legislation offers a path toward greater economic cooperation with the United States and Sudan, provided Sudan’s government shows real progress in protecting its people.

I got a text from a friend this morning saying his son's baseball field was gone.

The fire is now 142 acres and remains 20% contained.
Crews will continue working through the night with suppression efforts.
Three helicopters equipped with night-flying capabilities will continue making strategic water drops on the fire, while an additional helicopter provides aerial supervision.
Thank you to all of our local government partners for providing assistance and resources during this incident.
