Last week I explained my research using juggling @OxfordMedSci DPhil Slam. When I won that round I explained how I almost dropped out last minute because a porter at @StJohnsOx had died. I decided to dedicate my performance to him. Today was his funeral. This is for you, Sid. RIP

Insects are undergoing catastrophic declines - pollinators are amongst the hardest hit. The Weeds Act 1959 drives over-tidiness of our rural landscapes. Repealing it will benefit all kinds of creatures. Sign the petition to repeal the act ➡️ wtru.st/2YCXkL5 🐞🦋🐛🐝🌱

Habitat loss has had a huge impact on bumblebee populations - but 'weeds' like thistles and ragwort can really help these vital pollinators! As shown by this film made by our daughter when volunteering with @BumblebeeTrust's fab @BuzzingPeak team 🐝

Once a ubiquitous bird of Britain's gardens, Common Starling is one of Britain's fastest-declining species. RSPB's Kevin Middleton looks at the numbers and asks what might be driving the fall.

Sign this please. Let's do something to encourage the ragwort :)
I would be chuffed if lots of us could sign this petition which seeks a repeal of the Weeds Act 1959 to benefit pollinators & wider biodiversity. Plants targeted incl. nectar-rich thistles, essential ragwort, & dock; an important food plant. petition.parliament.uk/petit…

Signed. These photos were all taken this month in a field/wasteground next to a nature reserve and a busy main road. The reserve aren’t bothered about any seeds drifting over. I go there a lot just to insect watch. It’s teeming.

Repeal the Weeds Act. 60 years ago it might have been appropriate to tell farmers what plants they should control, in 2019 it is OTT & results in harm to wild flowers, bees and pollinators - Please Sign The Petition! petition.parliament.uk/petit…

Analysis overnight shows that Belgium actually got to 41.8°C.
Extreme temperature records are normally/historically broken by decimals of a degree. Need to get our heads around these new records smashing old records by 2-3°C.
Lots of temperature records weren't just broken on Thursday, they were smashed!
Incredible and historic heat across Europe with city, July and all-time records going...

If there was ever a day to promote the idea of planting more trees along streets, today would be it - NO SHADE for pasty people. Loads of smoggy nastiness to soak up too. #plantmoretreesplease #heatwave
