The 2017 blocksize war didn’t make BTC hard forks impossible. It made opposition to contentious hard forks part of BTC’s identity and a later hard fork to raise capacity would also lend some legitimacy to BCH’s original argument. That makes such changes politically very difficult

This man did nothing wrong. Ian Freeman should never have spent a single day in a federal cage. Years of his life have already been taken from him, and every additional day is another day that can never be returned. We are almost there. Finish this. PARDON IAN FREEMAN. freeiannow.org

We would like to thank Blockstream for this incredible endorsement of Hijacking Bitcoin. Pick up your copy to figure out what really happened to Bitcoin. You won't regret it. amazon.com/Hijacking-Bitcoin…
To those responsible for the theft of bitcoin from the Liquid Network: Blockstream will not pay a ransom for the return of stolen funds. Taking assets without authorization and withholding their return is a crime, not responsible disclosure. It is not white-hat activity. It is theft. We have engaged in good faith in an effort to secure the return of stolen user funds and protect the broader Bitcoin community. That effort should not be mistaken for acceptance of the actions taken nor of the terms being demanded. We will not be a party to the precedent that open-source software developed for the good of the Bitcoin community should subject its developers to paying a ransom that far exceeds their economic participation. Bitcoin is hard money and can’t be minted without costs, Bitcoin doesn’t haircut users to pay a ransom. To the Bitcoin community: We are fighting for what we believe in, for the users whose funds were taken, and for the principles on which Bitcoin was built. The community has demonstrated incredible resolve with teams of people dedicating their time in support of each other to identify and patch vulnerabilities in each other's products and systems. We are all driven by the mission that Bitcoin is the single best asset, for every person, company, and institution on the planet to invest, use, and build on. The world is a different place with the advancements of AI, and the Bitcoin community has responded with force to combat that threat. Damage has been done, battles have been lost, but on the whole the Bitcoin community is gaining ground in the war with bad actors. We want to thank the community for those efforts, for your support in hardening the network, helping users recover funds, and for your support in our assertion that crime does not deserve rewards. To those holding the stolen bitcoin: There is still an opportunity to resolve this responsibly. The bitcoin can be returned and we can revert to the standard of white-hat principals. However, if the funds are not returned, we will pursue every lawful avenue available to us. We will work with law enforcement, exchanges, service providers, forensic specialists, and other relevant parties to trace and recover the assets and identify those responsible. More importantly, Bitcoin is transparent by design and the community is made up of the most sophisticated engineers, cryptographers, and white-hat hackers globally. Transactions do not disappear, and neither does the evidence they leave behind. We will not pay for the return of stolen property. We will not abandon our users. The Bitcoin community will not stop pursuing the funds. Return the bitcoin.

Not gonna lie, noticing how Las Vegas boulevard is surrounded by Ripple ads triggered me a bit “Why isn’t it Bitcoin?”, I thought But then again, what’s the difference? If you’re gonna use BTC and XRP speculatively without making any payments, they are mere tickers in your portfolio. It doesn’t matter that one is centralized and the other one is decentralized if they’re used in the exact same way. And after seeing so many otherwise hardcore bitcoiners tap their cards to pay in Vegas (a few of them were even happy to pay with their Gemini cards because they earn BTC on the exchange), I’m more bearish than ever on this community If the guys who preach about the separation of money and state choose not to use the freedom tech for payments, we’re really screwed And also, in this scenario there’s no fundamental difference between BTC and XRP. They’re just speculative investments 🤷🏻‍♂️

BCH & BTC community have found consensus. BTC has only deteriorated for exactly the last 8-9 years. Experts remain mystified as to what changed at that moment in time.

It's easy to think you're the good guy when you're on the side of power. Critics of power see a very different world. Continue criticizing, and you'll eventually reach the same conclusion as the big blockers did years ago. Bitcoin was actually hijacked by Bitcoin Core via Blockstream. The conspiracies were true, and it likely connects to an even greater conspiracy involving establishment financial/political powers. I look forward to the day where small blockers can honestly look in the mirror and say "Were we the baddies?" There's still something we can do about it.

Many Bitcoin Twitter OGs have told me that it’s painful to scroll through their feed now. It’s so different than what it was 8-9 years ago.

Never would I have believed five years ago that I would be attacked, smeared and harassed by Adam Back, Shinobi, MrHodl and others for publishing a fully sourced investigation article about Bitcoin Core governance. It doesn't quite feel compatible with the whole "don't trust, verify" and decentralization mantras. It really is an unbelievable state of affairs. Appeals to authority, shaming, ad hominems, smears.... Zero engagement with the imo shocking revelations of the articles.

"I can never be sure, but it seems like Gloria’s was pre-arranged — decided upfront and the IRC meeting and the PR discussion was just democracy theater. Seems like this is how new maintainers are being selected — existent ones decide privately and announce their decision to the public in the form of a nomination. At this point most people would be anxious to speak against the decision or against a most likely future maintainer." - Vasil Dimov, Long-Time Bitcoin Core Contributor citadel21.com/the-lever

Irresistible. What a pitch. Put this clip in the history books.
JUST IN: Strategy’s Michael Saylor just said, "The idea of digital credit is to give a bank account to a billion people that pays them 10% without volatility." "We've invested $60 billion in a crypto reactor to create $10-20 billion a year high yield bank account backed by #Bitcoin that will grow 30-50% a year." "What I would recommend to my friends and family is $STRC." 🔥🚀
