Walking through The Sand Creek Massacre alongside other museum professionals is an experience that I will not soon forget.
I hope this exhibition serves as proof to other institutions that you can/need to do hard history.
Thank you @AAMers & @HistoryColorado

Still ruminating on yesterday's #AAM2023 session "Public History Without a Playbook" led by @HistoryColorado. Love the idea that in doing community-led #PublicHistory, designing exhibits w/ different sections makes space for disagreements between individual & group collaborators.

The tragic events at Sand Creek are now remembered as a massacre of children and elders, rather than a U.S. battle victory, thanks to a new exhibit at @HistoryColorado. Today on @180099Native, we speak to Chester Whiteman, Fred Mosqueda, and Sam Bock.
