Regardless of one's position on export controls, national security, or regulatory policy, the event highlights a broader reality: Advanced AI models are becoming critical infrastructure. When access to a frontier model can be altered, restricted, or withdrawn through a single decision, the conversation extends beyond a specific company or product. It becomes a question of resilience, access, and sovereignty. The AI industry has largely focused on scaling models, improving benchmarks, and expanding capabilities. Far less attention has been given to what happens when access itself becomes a point of dependency. History suggests that foundational technologies become most impactful when innovation is distributed across many participants rather than concentrated within a small number of institutions. The internet succeeded because no single organization controlled access to information. Open-source software accelerated progress because anyone could inspect, improve, and build upon it. AI will eventually face the same challenge. Safety, security, and responsible deployment remain essential. These principles should not be compromised. The ongoing discussion around @AnthropicAI, @claudeai, and the broader question of AI capability restriction highlights a deeper issue facing the industry. Safeguards and capability suppression are not the same thing. A safety system should prevent harmful actions, restrict dangerous behavior, and establish clear operational boundaries. A capability suppression system does something fundamentally different: it intentionally reduces a model's ability to reason, explore, or solve problems within a particular domain. Large language models do not retrieve truth from a database. They operate through probabilistic inference, uncertainty, abstraction, and generalization. These same mechanisms are responsible for creativity, scientific discovery, and advanced problem solving. As a result, there is an inherent trade-off between openness and restriction. Constraining the output space may reduce certain attack surfaces, but it also risks reducing exploration, reasoning depth, and intellectual capability. The internet created cybercrime, misinformation, and countless forms of misuse. Yet society did not respond by limiting the fundamental capability of the internet itself. Instead, we developed legal, technical, and institutional mechanisms to manage those risks while preserving the value of the underlying technology. AI deserves the same treatment → If a request must be refused, the refusal should be explicit → If a policy intervention occurs, it should be transparent. Researchers, developers, and users should understand whether they are encountering a model limitation, a policy boundary, or a safety mechanism. Officially launched and verified POAW-R (Product Update) At its core, POAW-R solves a fundamental challenge in decentralized AI: how do you verify that a node actually performed the computation it claims, without recomputing everything from scratch? With approximately 10% sampling, computation can be verified on-chain. Any node using the same model root and input hash must reproduce the exact same result. If it cannot, the system automatically opens a challenge process. To demonstrate the system, the team selected one of the most difficult domains possible: sarcoma drug discovery. The result was notable. While a standalone frontier model produced known and validated drug candidates, the combination of a domain-trained small model and a large model surfaced a research direction that had not previously been explored. More importantly, the entire process, from training and inference to benchmarking, remained fully verifiable on-chain.

@playarts_ceo posed a question to everyone: "Why are we still logging in with Google when we say we are building Web3 wallets?" Web3 was supposed to give users ownership over their assets and identity. Sakana AI demonstrated that an AI-generated ML paper could pass peer review at an ICLR workshop, while the broader AI Scientist work was later published in Nature.
