Hollander POTD Keith Van Horn. Huge star at Utah, NJ traded up to draft him 2nd in 97. Had a nice career but never a star (peak 22 ppg, 8.5 rpg in 98-99). NJ traded him in 02 & he put up about 13 ppg, 6 rpg per yr before retiring at age 30. Was a high socks wearing guy.

Acuff's rough shooting night was not the worst for a rookie. SAC fans take solace in the fact that rookie KD, LBJ & Shaq had bad nights too. Here are the lowest single game TS% for a rookie taking at least 24 shots since 79-80: sports-reference.com/stathea…

Since 83-84, eventual NBA Finals winners are 30-13 in season openers. Some really great teams, however, have had bad openers. A sampling: hoopsanalyst.com/nba-title-t…

Moe's best SA team was the 78-79 squad that went 48-34 and led the NBA in SRS. Core stars were Gervin & Kenon. They also featured Silas, Gale & Paultz. SA lost a painful 7-game ECF series v WAS, where SA blew a 3-1 lead & lost 3 close games.
