Season 6, they did it again. One of the harshest parts is losing so many great "joes."

So, I re-upped my temp Apple+ for a month and devoured Silo, abandoned Severance S2 (sadly), Ted Lasso forever, and found a new binge: Constellation. Whoa. Halfway thru S1. Astronauts out of time-space sync, to start (a real thing), great hook. On board for Slow Horses S6.

Going to add to this Apple+ list La Maison, which I started watching to practice my French (soap operas are great for that) but stayed for the generational gap and the design/artistic struggle that I know too well. Not "couture," but storytelling.

WSJ Editorial Board: “Congress is preoccupied with the Nov. 3 election, but Mr. Trump may not appreciate the anger he’s courting if he keeps aiding Mr. Putin. When the election is over there needs to be a bipartisan reckoning for Mr. Trump’s budding alliance with the Kremlin against Ukraine, Europe and American interests.” Amen.

This side profile of one of the Upper West Side barn owls perched near a street light shows off the bird’s beautiful smoky gray, brown and gold colors. I particularly love the look of the spots on its wings and back. (December 2025 in Central Park, New York) Cont’d #birdcpp

Today, there was a statement from the President of the United States that an energy ceasefire has been secured. This is good news for everyone – and it is important that it become reality. Unfortunately, Ukrainian skies have been infested with Russian “shaheds” all day today. There have been glide bomb strikes and strikes on our energy infrastructure too. A power plant in Kharkiv was attacked this evening. Overall, this past week alone, the Russians have carried out more than 200 strikes on our electricity generation and transmission facilities in Ukraine, and another 17 strikes this week targeted gas and oil facilities. They have killed more than 150 of our people, and more than 700 people have been wounded. Ukraine has proposed many de-escalatory steps. Putin had one answer to all of them – “nyet.” We do hope that he will finally say something to America, Ukraine, and the entire world that will lead to a real and dignified peace. Ukraine wants peace. The question is whether Russia does. The Armed Forces of Ukraine have received all the appropriate orders. We are awaiting clear details of the dialogue between America and Russia – and we expect Putin to follow through on what President Trump said.

Richard Nixon was once asked whether the Russians could be trusted. In response, he quoted the distinguished Italian diplomat Manlio Brosio, who had served for many years as Ambassador to Moscow and later as Secretary General of NATO. According to Nixon, Brosio said: “I know the Russians. They are liars. They are great actors. They are cheats. And they lie and play their roles because they believe it is their duty. They cannot be trusted.” But Nixon’s own words were even more telling: “We don't have to convince them that we're for peace. They know that. We have to convince them they cannot win a war. And once we do that, the basis is set for negotiation that will be responsible on both sides.” More than forty years have passed. Yet this approach remains as relevant as ever. Today, as the world seeks a path towards a just and lasting peace, Russia must receive a clear message: continuing its aggression will bring it no benefits. That is why the US decision to allow transactions involving Russian diesel fuel raises serious concerns. Every easing of economic pressure on Russia, without genuine steps towards ending its aggression, gives it additional opportunities to finance the war. I share the position of President of Ukraine @ZelenskyyUa: “Gifts to Putin will not bring peace or any benefit to the civilised world. Russia will “repay” the diesel with further terror and perfidy. Allowing Russia to sell petroleum products is an investment in a war that must be ended, not prolonged. What is needed is real de-escalation with Russia on a reciprocal basis.” I call on our American partners to reconsider the decision regarding Russian diesel. No barrels of Russian diesel are worth even a single gram of blood. Human blood. Ukrainian blood.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has the overwhelming support of the United States Congress, he has the overwhelming support of the American people, and he has the overwhelming support of the Ukrainian people. Russian illegally invaded Ukraine, a sovereign and freedom-loving nation, and Russia is squarely to blame for all damage and destruction, to both lives and treasure, that has resulted from Putin’s unprovoked attack. @ZelenskyyUa, you know that the United States Congress, and the American people, stand 100% behind you. The Ukrainian people are so blessed to have you leading them in these difficult times. We have your back, and we will stand with you until Ukrainian victory is achieved. 🇺🇸 🇺🇦

Putin told Iran the locations of our warships. Today, Trump rewarded him by lifting sanctions and allowing American dollars to fuel Russia’s war machine. Our troops are in harm’s way, and the President cut a deal with the adversary putting a target on their backs.

In 2009, Nidal Hasan opened fire on unarmed American soldiers at Ford Hood. He murdered 13 people, including a young private who was pregnant. He wounded more than 30 others. He is a terrorist and a traitor to the uniform he wore, who deserves to be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. The families of his victims have waited almost 17 years for finality. That being said, Pete Hegseth's desire to livestream the execution is a travesty. A terrorist who wanted to die a martyr is about to get the biggest stage he could ever ask for, courtesy of Pete Hegseth.

Hello, @PeteHegseth. I’m a former Army officer in 1st Cav who was stationed at Fort Hood. Thirteen murdered Americans deserve better than having their memory used to promote state-sponsored blood sport. Livestreaming the shooter’s execution is barbaric Taliban shit. @RepMikeRogersAL you chair the House Armed Services Committee. Find your spine.

El-Sayed: "He's trying to implicate that I'm involved in things that I have never been involved in. I was a junior in high school on 9/11, sitting in my chemistry class. I think all of us remember that day, and I watched as people started to point to people of my faith and start to say exactly the kinds of things that Rogers was saying. If that's his entire campaign strategy, you have to imagine how small minded he thinks Michiganders are."
