In 2019, Notre-Dame burned down, and Hammersmith Bridge was shut to cars due to cracks. Today, Notre-Dame reopens, even more glorious than before. Meanwhile, Hammersmith Bridge remains shut to cars and will be for at least another 5yrs. What a pathetic testament to Britain’s decaying state.

Hammersmith Bridge was closed in 2019 indefinitely. Five years on the campaign to reopen the bridge goes on ... and now we've published The Bridge, a children's picture book in rhyme, told through the eyes of the school children @HsmithBridgeSOS in aid of @ChiswickRNLI @BCA4Barnes

TfL are cutting services across London. Their decisions are based on passenger numbers which went down once the bridge reopened to pedestrians and cyclists. The new 378 route will bring up the numbers which will make easy for us to then argue for higher frequency. @sarahjolney1

While it’s great @TfL will take steps to reduce traffic speeds & improve pedestrian crossings, what Lonsdale Road really needs is a complete redesign to enable pupils of 4 schools in the area to travel actively & connect many @LBRUT commuters to the cycling network at Hammersmith

Lonsdale Road is just a half-hearted suggestion of a bike lane. I mean, look at this width 😂

The issue is some cyclists and e‑scooter users refusing to dismount, and has been ongoing for quite some time. Those employed to ensure the one-way system works efficiently, say they're ignored. Also, doesn’t help that they're not very assertive. #HammersmithBridge

@LBHF is committed to keeping the bridge open to all users including people in wheelchairs, cargo bikes, non-standard cycles & buggies. Pedestrians are being reminded to follow the existing one-way system to reduce conflict on the footways. 2/2 @HsmithBridgeSOS @BCA4Barnes – at Richmond, London

A throw back to #boatraceday 2021 when rowers couldn’t row UNDER #hammersmithbridge & ‘we’ @HsmithBridgeSOS organised a protest with the rowing community. One year on, and still not a lot of progress! ***Remember bridge closed today btw 10-5pm as too unsafe for spectators.***
