ALT For families and communities across our state, this moment has brought an onslaught of heartbreak, anguish, and dread. Yet it has also brought determination to fight for a better world. Our state’s leaders must immediately use every tool at their disposal to protect and defend our immigrant neighbors - and our deepest values. Donald Trump has promised a horrifying agenda of mass detention and deportation that will tear immigrant parents from citizen children, bring chaos to our neighborhoods, dispossess community members who have long called California home, and jeopardize public safety and trust. Every step of the way, he’ll invoke vile racist tropes to demonize our neighbors who are immigrants. His words and actions have already caused significant fear and hardship. But here in California, we believe that everyone is created equal. And we know that immigrants are a vital and inseparable part of our communities.

The words, "White Faces, Black and Brown Lives" are highlighted in yellow. Below this, smaller black text reads, "Join us for a webinar with our partners as we discuss how the focus on “Big Pharma” profiteering and white communities led many to miss the full story. People of color were suffering from similar, if not higher, overdose rates, and continue to today. This event offers a counterstory to the racial impacts of the overdose crisis and shows why an accurate understanding of race and overdose is crucial to save lives."
