Going Home! They opened Rye today after 25 days. Headed to see what home looks like.
850 homes and structures burned, 28 in Rye. Somehow my 105yr old cabin survived up in the park. Weird how life works sometimes. Hope all my forest critters survived, bbq/water for all of them!
Still not home and looks like no end in sight.
That Fire is above our home 1/4 mile away. So far they’ve only lost 28 homes in Rye. Hot shot crews all over up there.
Latest update from firefighters is a real bummer for us in the natl forest, park and wilderness areas.
18 days and counting displaced. No answer or timeframe when we can go home. Our houses, covered in ash/smoke as the fire dances and feeds across the mtns, lurking. It’s so very close on the western front. Mother Nature is our teacher, our friend, and our enemy, I’m in awe of her.
A moose came visit tonite or he smelled that dank RG5 I was smoking haha jk.
He was so chill, just moseying on through.
I owe a Huge thank you to all the firefighters trying their best to keep Rye from burning. The Hotshots have been doing their thing for days down in Rye saving what they can. Alaskan Command said they saved more than they lost so far.
