Why is it that every video or photo we see of these blankets being used, there’s often a severe lack of regard from many or all on scene for correct PPE and/or RPE? Here we see 4 people without BA, 2 with BA but not under air (so might as well not even have it on their back), and most don’t even have the correct PPE on. Crews really need to get better at this sort of thing, for anyone who’s not sure why this is so wrong, look at the below links on the increased cancer risks to firefighters: Interim Best Practice Report: fbu.org.uk/sites/default/fil… Secret Firefighter Twitter Talk - Firefighting Cancers with John Lord xitter.cf/i/spaces/1eaKbrg… The Firefighters Podcast - John Lord youtu.be/UYIo2Xu2aNM?si=xdWT…

Day two of @iafss2023 , workshop on humanitarian fires. Learned a lot and having great discussions on how we can help with our expertise, important to realise we researchers are not the key players in this area for impact, but that we can help with policy and understanding. – at Tsukuba-shi, Ibaraki
