This is a great point. Right now, only 2 sports can drive large-scale D1 athletic decisions and soccer is not one of them.
The forward facing element to the MSOC lobby imo made a mistake taking their cause to social media with a weak financial +/- budget offset explanation. The elephant in the room is MSOC is one of many deficit spending, non rev generating sports, seeking growth in this landscape.

College soccer will go away like Wikipedia will if I don’t give them $3.
Serious question, why would DI college soccer collapse because of this vote being rescinded? #collegesoccer

88-84 in a football game… I know the offensive players are going to remember this game forever.
The game is being temporarily suspended. The teams are going to move to a field with lights and will finish the game tonight. Being told they are headed to Chicago Englewood's field. We will see. Quincy leads 88-84 with 3:42 remaining in regulation.

How did I miss the Cal Pac disbanding news from 2 weeks ago?!

My initial reaction was that this is a catastrophe for D3, but this doesn't seem like a big deal if it actually led to a judgment (monetary payout aside)? I mean, instead of everything being "academic scholarships", it would become "athletic scholarships" for any athletes.
An eye-raising new lawsuit filed this evening: two former and one current NCAA Division III athletes filed suit against the NCAA over Division III rules barring athletic scholarship, claiming that the restriction amounts to illegal price fixing under antitrust law.

No one wants my thoughts from the 50-minute @NAIA Town Hall on the eligibility proposal, but here they are: - NAIA is not rolling this out haphazardly; it's smartly using a long runway, unlike the NCAA. It's obvious they let the NCAA be the proverbial punching bag. (1/x)

I don't really like the 4-year model limitation. Just give everyone 5 years to keep it simple. I see the argument against it, but it almost invites legal challenges, specifically from the idea of a hypothetical D3->D2->NAIA transfer. (4/x)

This hypothetical athlete has completed eligibility under the D3 model, but not the D2 model. Yet they played under the D3 model at some point, so are they eligible because their last stop was D2? It becomes a bit circular. A flat 5-year model would eliminate most issues. (5/5)

NEC on disintegration watch? I know they love the NE10 members to backfill, but there aren't many more to pluck, especially with a 6x application fee increase.
Potential changes could be coming that would make reclassifying to DI from DII a *lot* more expensive ncaaorg.s3.amazonaws.com/com…

It's an interesting theory. The NFL probably would love to have a game every day of the week. Unfortunately, that would mean it's no different from the MLB, NBA, or NHL with games on constantly. It would also probably add a 25th subscription service nobody asked for.
Multiple teams have three straight prime-time games this year. We have a theory about that.

The Metro sponsors all Le Moyne varsity teams except women's bowling.
Sources: Le Moyne College is on the cusp of joining The Metro Conference in all sports starting in 2027-28. The sides are deep in discussions with The Metro (formerly the MAAC), and a deal is expected to come together in the near future. Le Moyne is leaving the NEC.

Good thing I haven’t started on the Northeast realignment article bouncing around my head. This was going to be part of it as it will likely cause more moves.

They’ll definitely put quick time events behind a paywall. That uppercut KO is gonna cost you $4.99 plus tax.
To everyone who stayed in our corner: Fight Night is coming back. 🥊♥️ #FightNight

Should have just gone with Naperville University, but they probably wanted to avoid confusion of "NU" with Northwestern.
INBOX: North Central College (my alma mater) is changing its name to North Central University Naperville. Please make a note of it.

In a landmark moment, the NCAA is suing a sitting state governor, Ohio’s Mike DeWine, over his executive order on eligibility. NCAA calls the EO a “misguided attempt” to give Ohio colleges a “hall pass to break rules,” per docs obtained by @YahooSports. bit.ly/4ytwzK2

People really thought the College Football Playoff wouldn't go to 24 at some point? That's been a guaranteed LOCK since it went from 4 to 12. They won't leave that kind of money on the table in the next TV deal.

Having said that... I don't blame people for complaining. 24 teams dilute the regular season to a near-meaningless point. All this expansion and these changes are solely for one thing: money. They don't care about the athletes, games, or traditions. They just want more money.
