The Alaknanda is unbelievably cold. You can barely get yourself into the water. And then, just a few steps away, Tapt Kund is almost boiling hot.
Today, the temperature outside was -4°C. Quite an experience, I can tell you!
There is something about this whole ritual that I love. The shock of the icy river, the warmth of the kund and then walking up for darshan.
If you haven’t experienced this, put it on your list. It’s something you’ll remember long after you’ve left Badrinath.
