Thanks @neuraustralia and @NSWEducation for the opportunity to share the importance of brain health for people of all ages. You are never too old or too young to make changes to help reduce your risk of #dementia.
@IRNDP_Network @AgeingFutures @UNSWScience
Dr @NikkiAnneWilson recently published an article in “Countdown,” a school magazine distributed by @NSWEducation for children aged 7-9, explaining how the brain works. She says:
“As a cognitive neuroscientist and science communicator, I believe that teaching children about brain health is critical because it helps them develop good habits that support their ability to learn and grow. We know that the habits children develop today will also give them the best chance of sustaining their brain health for longer, including reducing their risk of developing dementia in later life. Many adults still lack understanding of ways to support their brain health so by educating young people early we hope to address this limitation for future generations.”
A new study by Prof @kaarin_anstey, Dr Yvonne Leung, Dr Ranmalee Eramudugolla & Dr @MoyraMortby at NeuRA and @AgeingFutures found significant gender differences in how cognitive resilience factors affect mild cognitive impairment. @UNSW
