It’s been a while since the last survey was carried out, but fieldwork 9th-14th Oct 26 suggests that independence is still not in many people’s top 3. Such a shame the SNP at their conference seem to want to talk about something that people don’t want the SG to bother about.
As the 2026 Holyrood campaigns start officially, leaving the U.K. has slipped even further down the list. Only 9% think it’s important, despite what @JohnSwinney and @theSNP will try to tell you. That’s fewer than 1 in 10 people think it’s a priority.
Unfortunately this lot can’t debate so block instead, but rather than equating them with Nazi Germany, with their emphasis on being Scotland born I’m actually equating them with Siol nan Gaidheal
Notice they aren’t demanding Swinney publish his secret Indy plan, or his economic assessment of the impact on us all of separation. Very selective about what secrets they demand publication of aren’t they.
A pre-election gimmick? Think Cllr Keith is spot on with his assessment. I note that Angela Constance succumbs to the usual Scot Govt technique of blaming someone else, and that Moray’s SNP MSP Laura Mitchell’s silence is deafening.
Anyone surprised about this? Did anyone really think we’d get the kind of deal we had before? All or nothing seems to be Barnier’s position. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c9kg…
Irrelevant Austin. Just a year ago Holyrood deemed that there wasn’t a business case for Committee Conveners to be paid extra. In fact, they specifically said it wouldn’t be appropriate.
The staffer wrote: “Wandering the echoing halls of VQ, with its endless banks of dust-caked 4:3 monitors, is like walking through a post-modern Pompeii.” Perhaps they could get some of the ‘ghost workers’ in to dust the place down?
EXCLUSIVE: Home-based civil servants likened their Scottish Government workplace to the ruined city of Pompeii as they slammed a back-to-office policy

You’re lying again Lara. You know that Healy stated that Britain would have a fund of that size, not Scotland. Of course he made some unlikely assumptions as well just to get that figure.
Just a few weeks ago our SNP membership overwhelmingly passed a motion at conference which acknowledged that if domestic energy production is less carbon intensive than imported energy, then to produce it here is the responsible choice.
If Scotland had had control over our resources from the beginning, then we would be sitting with a wealth fund worth over £1 trillion.
Just think what £1 trillion invested into Scotlands renewable sector would look like now.
But that wealth doesn’t exist, because Westminster squandered the opportunity and denied us our potential.
We won’t let them play the same trick twice, and that’s why the membership, MSPs, MPs and Ministers all voted to put Scotlands energy in Scotlands hands.
It’s not really hilarious though is it Kevin, because some people believe this nonsense which results in a constitutional split that holds us all back.
Sit there at 50mph on that stretch and you’ll be the only one. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c6wy…
13 months ago the Standards, Procedures and Public Appointments Committee said this:
At the moment, with the state of the Scotland’s finances and the cost of living impacts, ANY politician voting to award themselves a 20% pay rise will not look good in the public’s eyes. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c8kg…
From the 4th Report of the Standards, Procedures and Public Appointments Committee dated 2nd October 2025. Only thing that’s changed is the cost of living for everyone. bprcdn.parliament.scot/publi…

"We have a much more significant emphasis on increasing pay at the lower levels than at the higher levels of pay" Except for his SNP chums, who he enabled to get a 20k increase and was going to take it for himself until being caught out by @Georgia_Edkins! @DailyMailLorna #FMQs

Thousands of households across the Borders rely on heating oil to keep their homes warm.
But with prices increasing, I know that for some, filling their oil tanks ahead of winter is becoming unaffordable.
The Government's VAT cut on electricity and removal of standing charges from gas bills will help some households, but neither will tackle the cost of heating oil.
I raised this in Parliament because the Government is not doing enough to support rural households that rely on heating oil and they must not be forgotten.
Just remind me again @neilcgray, who as Health Secretary, concealed the fact that the Monklands Hospital redevelopment wasn’t going ahead, allowing it to slip out after the May 2026 election. Whose constituency is Monklands in?again?
"The idea that information like that would be concealed or withheld is, I think, a gross discourtesy to this parliament".
The SNP Government has been criticised by members of its own party following recent disorder at Polmont.
Glasgow MSP David Linden grilled Justice Secretary Neil Gray on trouble at the Young Offenders Institution in September.
Prison staff had to be called in from four other jails, and some were injured.
But despite the riot happening more than a month ago, Parliament only found out about it through media reports last week.
Mr Gray said it was an operational matter for the prison service, but that he would reflect on Mr Linden's comments.
They’re proposing doing things that weren’t in the 2024 manifesto, so the importance placed upon the manifesto does vary considerably.
