Been holding this in all week because it didn't feel real but uh, I have news. In January I applied for a job in Antarctica. On Monday I got the job. Over the end of this year and the beginning of next, I will be spending almost six months at the bottom of the world.

Never actually heard Ben's commentary. It's so much funnier than I had imagined in listening to people talk about it.

Walking around downtown Christchurch, New Zealand is radicalizing me regarding the state of our public maintenance in the States.

My Big Food conspiracy theory is they have selectively bred the bananas to ripen faster so they could sell more but now you buy green bananas and if you don't eat all 7 green bananas in 3 days they will be brown and mushy.

Found out I’m gonna get to direct something pretty cool in a couple months. Can’t talk about it yet and it’s nothing TOO crazy, but an exciting next step in the journey. I’m saying this because it would never have happened if I hadn’t made The Crossing Over Express and Goodbye, Monster. Don’t let anyone tell you short films are a waste of time.

This is a really cool program and one I almost applied for, before decided on a slightly different path to get there. Check it out!

Sometimes I forget just how colorblind I really am...
Tigers look orange to humans because we are trichromats, but they appear green to deer and wild boars because they are dichromats.

My review is in. The Odyssey is probably my 2nd favorite Nolan film, behind Inception. A handful of choices kept it from landing quite as powerfully with me as the #1 spot, but there were so many brilliant moments on display. The last third in particular was magical.

And while some of the archery on display frustrated (curse you Lars Andersen!) I actually loved how Odysseus's little pluck of the bowstring was used throughout the film. (it wasn't a dry fire y'all!) The last one in particular gave me chills.

Lastly I think the idea of gods and monsters as unknowable, almost Lovecraftian things is such a brilliant choice and something I can't believe we haven't seen more of. Nolan's Greece felt truly dangerous and almost primal, whereas I think most other adaptations have tamed it.

I don't know what sort of PR campaign Marvel ran for Scott Summers but he legit has gone from being my least favorite X-man to a top 10-er in the last couple of years and I cannot pinpoint any specific reason why.

Seeing The Odyssey on Friday (in the Nolan IMAX) and I think it might actually make me dust off my 7 year old Letterbox account that only has a single review.

After spending most of my energy this year on acting, I'm finally cracking open my first new script of the year. Feels good to be writing again. Supernatural thriller too (my first!) so send spooky vibes.

One of my favorite moments in my contemporary fantasy script. MC gets attacked by a werewolf. From London. In a diner. With a jukebox. You can figure out what happens.
i love movies as a storytelling medium bc you can just be like “you know what would make this scene even better? dreams by the cranberries.” you dont get that with a book

Best script I ever wrote happened because I worked for several months in a crating warehouse on an assembly line. By the time I actually sat down at a computer I had basically already written the whole thing in my head.
Literally every screenwriter every day.
