Yesterday was a great day for our democracy. If we want to hold on to what we’re feeling today, we need to get to work.

Last Friday in Tupelo. Colom is a twin so his daughters like teasing their dad. His oldest girl walked up to us during the interview, giggled and said: "Are you daddy or uncle???" before they hugged. Too cute

this is @scott_colom after a rally in Tupelo with @BillClinton. Hugging his daughter mid interview with @jmart. I don’t think I realized at the time just how historic this photo would be. After the rally, Scott stayed to talk to every voter in the room (and those outside) whether they agreed with him or not. Remarkable.

My doctor sent me a note last night about my Diet Coke consumption (I didn’t know she followed me).
Thought I’d better start with orange juice this morning instead.

One of my favorite lines from President Clinton’s endorsement of Scott Colom last week:
“Now, my friend George W. Bush once said, ‘Democracy is self-correcting.’ We’re about to find out in Mississippi if it’s true. We’re about to find out, because Scott is the correction.”
The democratic nominee for senate in MISSISSIPPI… going to Trump rallies to talk issues… I mean Colom quite literally rewrote the playbook.
I walked the Trump rally line to listen, not make assumptions. I talked with voters, asked questions and heard what matters to them.
When I'm elected, I'll represent all 82 counties and every Mississippian, no matter who they voted for. That's what being your senator means. #MississippiMatters
This ad will go down in the history books. Genuinely a once in a generation talent coinciding with the perfect storm to take out an unpopular (and weak candidate) republican.
I saw the way @scott_colom worked rope lines in person, talked to folks in line, and stayed after events to talk to every voter. He also showed up to Trump events to talk to Trump voters. If he wins, it came down to those conversations. Just wow. Wow. Wow.

Number of Black governors elected in previous 250 years of American history: 3
Number of Black governors elected on Tuesday, November 3, 2026: 4
Replying to @ASDem
NV-GOV, WI-GOV, and GA-GOV: There have been 3 elected Black governors in American history. We could double that in one night, across these three tossup races. (Maybe more if Donalds wins in FL but I ain’t rooting for that lol).
Cindy Hyde Smith wouldn’t sign the Blue Slip for Scott Colom… and now he is about to hand her a Pink Slip. Wowwwwwwwwzers.
Mississippi Update
The Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in Mississippi is currently leading Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith by 28 votes.
Scott Colom was nominated to serve as a federal judge by President Biden, but Hyde-Smith blocked his nomination, citing his support for transgender rights and the backing his district attorney candidacy received from a political action committee funded by George Soros.
Scott Colom (D): 48.95% (462,779 votes)
Cindy Hyde-Smith (R): 48.94% (462,751 votes)
95% of the vote reported.

Tonight, the American people sent a clear message — they want a politics that brings people together rather than divides them, and leaders who offer concrete solutions to the challenges they face.
These results were only possible because outstanding candidates stepped forward in every region of the country — including in areas once considered long shots. They came from different backgrounds and represented a range of political perspectives, but were united by shared values, a belief in public service, and a commitment to putting the people of their districts and states first.
We also owe a debt of gratitude to the thousands of election officials and volunteers from both parties who helped ensure a smooth election and carried out one of the most essential functions of our democracy.
While this administration has another two years in office, our job now is to roll up our sleeves, make changes wherever we have the power to do so, prevent further damage, and lay the groundwork for the future.
BREAKING: Trump’s ballroom will now be a Trader Joes with slam poetry Wednesdays in the rose garden.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER.

The voters have spoken, and I want to extend my congratulations to James Talarico on his election to the U.S. Senate. I look forward to meeting him and offering my assistance with his transition as he prepares to serve Texans in the U.S. Senate.
My apologies to the White House butlers who will be cleaning up a lot of Diet Coke cans and a broken TV when Trump inevitably throws something through the screen!
