I wish to assure Nigerians of our commitment to making solar technology more affordable and accessible across the country. Regarding the proposed ban on the importation of solar panels, I wish to clarify that the restriction will not take effect until local production capacity is sufficient to meet Nigeria’s domestic demand. At the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, we are working to attract global leaders in solar technology to invest in Nigeria through technology transfer, local manufacturing, skills development and the training of Nigerian professionals. These efforts will strengthen local capacity, create jobs and ensure that Nigerians have access to affordable solar solutions and reliable technical services. This vision aligns with the broader energy transformation agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, under the Renewed Hope Agenda. By leveraging grid electricity alongside clean energy solutions, including solar photovoltaic technology, we aim to support industrialisation, expand energy access and improve the quality of life of our citizens. Our goal is clear: to build local capacity, encourage investment and ensure that the benefits of solar technology are within the reach of ordinary Nigerians. #Innovation #SolarEnergy #RenewableEnergy #TechnologyTransfer #LocalManufacturing #RenewedHopeAgenda

What does the transition actually pay? Under ambitious climate investment scenarios, Nigeria’s GDP could rise by 4.2% by 2030 and 15% by 2050, with 1.2 million jobs created. These are modelled projections, not guarantees.

Nigeria is not choosing between development and decarbonization. We need to build faster and build differently, creating infrastructure that is resilient, efficient and ready for the future. One system. Two speeds. Managed together. #DINSummit2026 #GreenInfrastructure #Nigeria – at Abuja, Nigeria

A good idea is not always enough to secure funding. Strong preparation, clear risks and the right information can make all the difference. Project readiness matters. #DINSummit2026 – at Abuja, Nigeria

Policy is more than regulation. It is a signal to investors. Clear, predictable policies can reduce uncertainty, build confidence and make green infrastructure projects more investable. So, what policy change would make the biggest difference for Nigeria?

40 days to go. Green infrastructure needs more than ambition. It needs projects that are ready, risks that are manageable and investment conditions that inspire confidence. On September 29, we bring the conversation to Abuja. #DINSummit2026

Why isn’t capital flowing fast enough into green infrastructure? The challenge is not only finding capital. Investors need confidence in policies, projects, counterparties, revenue structures and risk allocation. Create the right conditions, and capital can move. – at Abuja, Nigeria

Green infrastructure can attract investment, but capital does not move on potential alone. Investors need confidence in policies, projects, financial risk, institutions, and revenue certainty. #DINSummit2026 #GreenInfrastructure #ClimateFinance

Good infrastructure needs more than good ideas. It needs capital. Green infrastructure can drive Nigeria’s growth, advance climate goals and build resilience. But turning ambition into projects requires investment and investor confidence. What can unlock more capital?

What does “de-risking” actually mean? For green infrastructure, the challenge is not always a lack of capital. Sometimes, the risks are simply too high. De-risking helps reduce, share and manage policy, project, financial and institutional risks…

On 6 June 2024, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR established the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Climate Finance & Stakeholder Engagement (OSSAP-CFSE) with a clear mandate: mobilise climate finance, strengthen Nigeria's institutional frameworks, and advance Nigeria's Paris Agreement commitments. Two years on, the OSSAP-CFSE is proud to share a record of stewardship in service of that mandate. From supporting the approval of Nigeria's Carbon Market Activation Policy to co-organising the Nigeria Sustainable Finance Intensive, from spearheading the launch of the Renewed Hope Climate Change Awareness Tour across all 36 states to convening the Decarbonising Infrastructure in Nigeria (DIN) Summit with the Office of the Vice President, to driving African carbon market development as an Advisory Board Member of the Carbon Markets Africa Summit (CMAS) — every engagement has been in pursuit of one goal: positioning Nigeria to capture its fair share of global climate finance. Nigeria requires $177 billion in climate investment by 2030 and received approximately $5 billion of global climate finance flows, which exceeded $2 trillion in 2024. Under the Renewed Hope Agenda, this office remains committed to closing that gap. To every partner, regulator, investor, and institution that has supported this work; we are grateful. The mission continues. #ossapcfse #ClimateFinance #nigeria #RenewedHopeAgenda #CarbonMarkets #ClimateAction #sustainability

It has been an eventful three days at the Africa Climate Summit 2, where Governments, Multilaterals, Civil society groups, and the private sector converged from around the world. I had the privilege to interact with various stakeholders and participate in crucial events focused on enhancing climate financing in Nigeria and fortifying our climate ecosystem. Preceding COP30 in Belem, Brazil, this Summit united prominent African climate players to discuss the Baku to Belem roadmap, aiming to secure $1.3 trillion in climate finance to bridge the substantial funding shortfalls crucial for developing nations to achieve their climate goals. Key highlights from the Summit: - Strengthening regional partnerships and establishing robust frameworks to drive carbon market potentials. - Advocating for Ministries of Finance to integrate climate financing into fiscal strategies. - Empowering Country Platforms for effective results in funding loss and damage. - Mobilizing local resources for Climate and Nature preservation amidst fiscal challenges. - Overhauling Trade & Investment Policies to bolster Africa's economic and climate resilience. - Encouraging private sector involvement in Adaptation Finance: Clearing uncertainties and spurring action. Special thanks to the International Climate Councils Network for their unwavering support, to the Director General of the National Council on Climate Change, Tenioye Majekodunmi, for her collaborative spirit and dedication to engaging with diverse stakeholders despite a demanding schedule. Notable delegates from Nigeria included Special Adviser to the President on NEC & Climate Change, Rukaiya el-Rufai, the Deputy Chair, Federal House Committee on Environment, Terseer Ugbor, Onoja Joseph Daniel, PhD, DG of the NCF Nigeria, and Honourable Commissioner of Environment, Climate Change and Mineral Development from Plateau State, Peter Gwom, Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Climate Change and Circular Economy, Titilayo Oshodi MCIPM, FISMN, all ensuring that Nigerian voices were heard on the global stage. #ACS2 #ClimateAction #ClimateChange #ClimateFinance #StakeholderEngagement
